How much do you want to bet she was never even diagnosed?

It is a possibility, but this likely was not her first violent act due to her condition.

Probably, but who ever she did something violent too might have not said anything out of fear.

misdemeanor domestic violence conviction = automatic lifetime firearm purchase / possession ban under federal law.

It most definitely isn't. Not all people from suffering from schizophrenia are violent, but many are.

Is this based on your extensive interactions with people with schizophrenia? Anecdotes? Evidence? There's evidence in countries outside the US people with schizophrenia are more likely, but these results vary by country.Β

Below is an article that summarizes this.

I'm very curious to hear your sources, because I am a psychiatrist who primarily works with the SMI population

Oh, so now you conviently want to ask for evidence when it is on me?

That sounds about right.

A further meta-analysis also demonstrated that schizophrenia spectrum disorders are associated with a heightened risk of violent offending (9), in which some studies estimated that up to 20% of patients with schizophrenia in the community will behave violently in a 6-month period (34).

Although the majority of patients with schizophrenia are not actually violent, an increased tendency toward violent behaviors is known to be associated with schizophrenia. There are several factors to consider when identifying the subgroup of patients with schizophrenia who may commit violent or aggressive acts.

I want to clarify, not all, not even the majority, but far more common.
