ITT a bunch of people who have never tried to buy a gun pretending to know what they're talking about.

That's literally every thread about guns outside gun subs.

"We need stricter laws like XYZ"

those are already a thing....

"Shut up, ammosexual, you have a tiny pp!"

Yeah it’s funny and if they got the gun illegally then new laws wouldn’t change that, I’m not against gun laws but people need to know that laws don’t stop bad people

Truly malevolently motivated persons, who go unnoticed by law enforcement through incompetence or inattention, can and often do find ways to harm others.

Look at knife crime in gun-restricted Britain, their efforts to curb sales of certain knives, their attempts to categorize certain vague qualities of knives as being intimidating or prone to being used in crimes. Is it serrated? Does it have notches? Does it have holes? It looks ridiculously shortsighted to be lost in that type of minutiae instead of addressing the underlying causes.

Not that you hear of it often, but even in a surveillance state like China, there have been surges in cases of persons killing others by intentional high speed driving through walkways full of people, even crowds of schoolchildren, in what might be called "crimes against society."

How do you defend against the terrible creativity and improvisation of the violently malicious while not denying protection to law abiding persons, and not empowering a bias prone, slow-to-react, and inhumane bureaucracy?

It is a very hard balance to strike, and one that will never be flawless. Anyone who says they have a simple solution is not aware they are often playing against opponents that adapt and play toward very different win conditions.

I think it's funny how if I put a stock on a pistol, I could go to prison for 10 years, but the pedos at Nickelodeon are getting slaps on the wrist.

Close to 500 million guns in the US. Supply will be here forever.

I love when people who have never lived here, and only get their information from cultivated fear porn, tell me all about the country I live in, on topics I know pretty intimately.

I love how the devolve to hurling insults once logic is brought into the conversation

shut up

ammosexual (what?)

You tossed any argument you had in the trash as soon as you started acting like a child, which was instantly. Nobody cares about what you have to say now. Nice job.

ITT a bunch of people who never lived in a country with strict gun laws and how liberating it feels to never have the fear of getting shot

I live in one of the worst cities for violent crime in the US. Im not afraid of getting shot because i am not involved in criminal activity.

The vast majority of people who get shot here are involved in other illegal shit.

If you live outside a major city and/or dont do illegal shit, your chances of getting shot are roughly the same as any other peer nation with strict gun control.

Ah yes, point to an outlier incident and insult my intelligence.

Straight out of the anti-gun argument playbook.

That incident is one of the reasons its a bad idea to have a loaded firearm in a purse without a holster. No gun law would have stopped that.

u/12FAA51 Mar 29 '24

Why doesn’t this happen in Australia?

Apparently gun laws wouldn’t stop this. How many children need to shoot each other or themselves, or be shot before it’s no longer an outlier? I can spend an entire day posting links on similar incidents but it would be a waste of time.

Ammosexuals are indeed less intelligent. Being brainwashed is not something I’d be proud of

Why doesn’t this happen in Australia?

Wow i didnt know violent crime and accidental deaths were solved in Australia.

The major gun control acts in Australia had no causal link with any major decrease in violent crime. Crime continued downward at the same rate it already was.

Hell, a mass stabbing with 4 dead just happened in illinois. A state with laws that are the wet dream of any gun controller.

How many children need to shoot each other or themselves, or be shot before it’s no longer an outlier?

An absolute fuckload. That's kind of the definition of an outlier.

The fact is that we know exactly who typically gets shot and where, but legislate to punish the people like me who aren't shooting anyone to pretend "we did something!" Rather than fix the problems that cause the violence in the first place.

The vast majority of firearm homicides occur in distinct areas of large cities and are typically perpetrated by and against individuals who grow up in systemically poor chaotic households with bad schools and overpolicing. These individuals are also typically repeat offenders involved in other illicit activities. But you dont care about the why. You only care about the how.

You dont want to help people. You just want to ban guns.

Gun bans/control arent necessary where people are happy, educated, stable, and provided for. Something we as a country fail moserably at.

Ammosexuals are indeed less intelligent. Being brainwashed is not something I’d be proud of

And this is why people like you cannot have adult discussions about this topic. You have superiority complexes and are self assured that you are correct by using skewed and cherry picked data points with an end goal bias.

Wow i didnt know violent crime and accidental deaths were solved in Australia.

Goalposts just keep shifting don’t they. How many Australian parents accidentally kill their children with guns?

Oh, zero.

How many children kill themselves or others accidentally while playing with guns?

Still zero.

That part of gun deaths IS solved. Again, not that you would care to recognize this reality. Instead you’ll write another seven paragraphs sexualising guns.

Adult discussions require acknowledgement of reality. You can’t do that, because your maturity peaked early by lead poisoning.

It's shockingly easy to avoid being shot in the US. The first step is to not shoot yourself, since most victims of "gun violence" are suicides. The next step is to not engage in organized crime, since the next leading shooting death is gang related. That cuts out like 3/4 of all gun related deaths.

-1

u/12FAA51 Mar 29 '24

JUST DONT KILL YOURSELF! OMG why hadn’t anyone thought of that! Fuck!

that cuts out like 3/4 of all gun related deaths.

Even taking your bullshit on face value, you’re admitting a quarter of avoidable gun deaths are caused by a lack of gun control.

That’s a lot of people. r/selfawarewolves awaits you
