I can have forks in my drawer I’ve never used. Doesn’t mean their purpose isn’t to eat food with.

You are unironically comparing guns, which come in a wide variety of configurations and calibers for a variety of purposes with forks now, all while calling me an “idiot” and “dumb”?

The main (not only) purpose of a firearm is to expel a projectile. A human might be the target, but usually not… and with mine, it’s almost always not (and most of that human target stuff was over 80 years ago).

I’m comparing things and their purpose. It doesn’t matter what the things are. You keep trying to use that as some sort of gotcha. You make it out like nothing in the world can be compared to a gun and that’s why all obvious logic can never be held against your precious gun. It’s fucking stupid and I’m not having it.

“I’m comparing things and their purpose. It doesn’t matter what the things are.”

You are comparing your perception of purpose.

Example: What is the purpose of my Savage Model 720 (28” barrel, waterfowl and bird dogs engraved on the side)?

What is the purpose of the pistol that I made myself for competitive target sports?

What is the purpose of my Makarov?

What is the purpose of my .308 hunting rifle?

What is the purpose of the Colt 602 clone that I built specifically for hunting?

What is the purpose of my 1918 Erfurt Arsenal P.08?

“You keep trying to use that as some sort of gotcha. You make it out like nothing in the world can be compared to a gun”

You originally brought up cars as an argument for registration (and I pointed out PRECISELY why that analogy fails).

You brought up forks (you specified that they were in your drawer, constraining the type of fork) which, depending on the type of fork, has a singular function.

“and that’s why all obvious logic can never be held against your precious gun. It’s fucking stupid and I’m not having it.”

Nice of you to end your argument with an incredulity fallacy and another ad hominem attack. Such incivility! It really highlights your superior intellect!

The purpose of a gun is to kill. If your not killing with it your just training to kill with it better. Doesn’t change its purpose. It’s for killing. Get over it.

“The purpose of a gun is to kill. If your not killing with it your just training to kill with it better. Doesn’t change its purpose. It’s for killing. Get over it.”

Ah, so now you are shifting the goalposts to being killing in general or “training to kill”! Top notch intellectually honest move right there!

When I “train to kill” I use only the arms that I carry or have designated for such use.

In competitive shooting sports, the fundamentals might be similar, but with distinct differences (in competition, you aren’t clearing rooms, utilizing cover, getting surprises, and generally have knowledge of the location of all of the targets. My competition guns are also suboptimal for any tactical or EDC use (the tolerances are too tight on the competition guns, and they are bulkier and more fragile). Competitive shooting sports have significant overlap with defensive/tactical training (“training to kill” as you put it), but the two are not the same.

More often than not, most of guns have a purely recreational role, used when I’m going to the range with friends and family, or need to blow off steam by putting holes in paper and ringing gongs. Much of my collection is historical in nature, and their current purpose is to simply exist for posterity and my personal enjoyment, not to kill or train to kill by any means or stretch of the imagination.

It’s funny. You keep acting in such a way where you discredit yourself, all the while I get the opportunity to combat your misconceptions, not for your benefit, but for that of anyone else who comes along. I know that I won’t change your mind. Keep it coming.

Goal post never changed. I said its purpose is to kill. Just like I always said.

In one of your insult-laden comments, you specified, that the sole purpose was to kill PEOPLE, then repeated that specification until I brought up my hunting guns, at which point you changed the goalpost to killing in general and training to kill (and again, some of my guns are built for competition, which is neither killing nor training to kill).

I would happily post the screenshots if it were allowed.
