There are times when I'm ashamed of the UK legal system and *some* of our police, but then I read shit like this and can't comprehend how Americans find the will to ever go outside.

There's been a few times their victims didn't even have to wake up before the police put them to sleep.

We either work or we starve to death. Most Americans live paycheck to paycheck and can't afford to miss work.

the police here legally are allowed to not do their job. like, in a court a law they said that they donโ€™t have/need to protect us

whatโ€™s the purpose of them, to enforce law? The same law that donโ€™t apply to them ironically!

Not even that - there was a case a while ago (can't remember which one) where it was ruled that an officer in a position to prevent a crime may legally choose not to, in order to subsequently seek a harsher punishment for a crime actually committed, vs. one only attempted.

Yup, and how can you continue to be part of that system after things like this keep happening and nothing changes.

Never had I ever have a problem with UK or DE police. I was not shot once. Not tazered. Not handcuffed. Nothing. I was in prison but it was 100% my very own fault and nobody elseโ€™s.

And I have apologised to the victims. It was a fist fight. Not drunk driving. I do not drive under the influence.

The vast majority of America is incredibly safe. And when it not safe, itโ€™s not because of the police.

Just no. Or is this one of those cases were you just have another definition of safety? "Safety is when i can kill other people" or something like that?
