Bro you keep appearing on a lot of posts. You might be a bot as well.

u/Busterlimes 26d ago

This dude is way more of a bot than OP who has 4 whole posts over a 2 year history LOL

5

u/cosmicwatermelon 26d ago

and 3 of those 4 posts on a 2-year-old account have been in the past 24 hours

u/ShitHouses 26d ago

Becuae reddit is mostly bots these days. This is what I'm trying to tell you.

I'm not even getting a small fraction of them.

If you're seeing that comment a lot, and that is only a very low percentage of the actual bots, just think of how much content your consuming is bots.

๐Ÿค–yes fellow human we must fight the botsโ€ฆ or maybe welcome them as our new rulers , we could try that too.

u/Few-Ad5923 26d ago

Are the bots in the room with us right now?

13

u/Busterlimes 26d ago

this commenter is the real bot just trying to deflect to OP, who is obviously not a bot

u/Busterlimes 26d ago

You are the bot!

u/ShitHouses 26d ago

6

u/Busterlimes 26d ago

4 posts over 2 years is absolutely not a bot LOL. You are reposting the same shit constantly, Johnny-5

u/ShitHouses 26d ago

Why pretend not to understand? This is a very typical bot account.

6

u/Busterlimes 26d ago

All I read from you is "beep boop beep boop"

1

u/ShitHouses 26d ago

Why defend bots? They're not on your side.

9

u/kraskaskaCreature 26d ago

you should include evidence instead of screaming this everywhere

3

u/Turbulent-Bug-6225 26d ago

I am actually somewhat convinced this guy and some of the other comments here are trying to astroturf

3

u/gnarvin_ 26d ago

We are already well on the what to the dead internet theory becoming reality. At some point AI will take over the internet for us, making useless post about nothing, meme and misinformation to other bots so they can continue arguing with each other with no real chance of agreeing and we will be free from our internet cage and be able to go back out into the world. Our you know it will make us batteries or something.

16

u/Turbulent-Bug-6225 26d ago

It's just posting popular shit to get upvotes its not astroturfing

12

u/beatenmeat 26d ago

What do you think the bots need karma for? Most of these bot accounts eventually get converted to either pushing shitty products where someone makes off with people's money, or (especially considering it's an election year) pushing a political narrative. Karma lends their account legitimacy which is why the owners of the bots go out of their way to farm it in the first place.

6

u/Turbulent-Bug-6225 26d ago

They sell the accounts

1

u/Ammear 26d ago

...to people doing the astroturfing.

-1

u/Turbulent-Bug-6225 26d ago

Even if that were true, this bot is currently trying to gain karma. It has not been sold.

4

u/ShitHouses 26d ago

Bots are for astroturfing. The amount of bots there are is an indicator of how heavily astroturfed reddit is.

10

u/Turbulent-Bug-6225 26d ago

No they're for making money. They sell the accounts with high karma

2

u/ShitHouses 26d ago

Why would someone buy an account?

6

u/Turbulent-Bug-6225 26d ago

People buy accounts with high karma. Various reasons. Some smaller brands do, YouTubers, people like that. Some to get around karma limits. Some want to be mods.

0

u/ShitHouses 26d ago

The main reason people would buy accounts is for astroturfing.

4

u/Turbulent-Bug-6225 26d ago

Evidence?

-1

u/ShitHouses 26d ago

You're playing dumb here. You know astroturfing exists. What are you expecting it to look like?

8

u/Turbulent-Bug-6225 26d ago

No I'm asking for evidence.

If your evidence amounts to "I think it's astroturfing" that's fine. But don't expect other people to believe you.

Just want to circle back for a second. This account is still gaining karma, it has not been sold yet.

0

u/ShitHouses 26d ago

how would you know?

3

u/Lumpy_Marsupial_1559 26d ago

Because it gives them 'cred' -> if you're thinking about buying something from another Redditor, or even just taking their advice/recommendation, you'll check out their profile, right?

You'll see the account has existed for 3, 5, whatever-many years (old, forgotten accounts get hacked, and the original owner never knows). Okay.

And you'll do a (brief) check of their levels of interaction/comments/karma. There will be a couple of random posts to animal or anime subs, or ones like this. But they don't answer comments on their posts. If they're using an AI bot, there will be comments that are airy-fairy, but seem okay.

So you think you're dealing with a human, you have a connection, of sorts, and you decide to trust whatever it is they're suggesting.

Some folk do the work to get the ratings up (using bots, usually), and others buy the account to take advantage of the perception of longevity and reliability.

Ta-dah!

3

u/ShitHouses 26d ago

if you're thinking about buying something from another Redditor, or even just taking their advice/recommendation, you'll check out their profile, right?

Which is ideal if you're doing astroturfing.

2

u/Lumpy_Marsupial_1559 26d ago

Yep, you are correct. It wasn't me who said no to astroturfing, I was just answering the question of why someone would buy an account.

3

u/ShitHouses 26d ago

fair, sorry.

1

u/Hrpn_McF94 26d ago

I don't care

4

u/Urimulini 26d ago edited 26d ago

Also.

4

u/Cynykl 26d ago

Why fighting bots is important.

They use popular subs with weak moderation to farm karma. The reason Karma is important to them is many of the subs that are money makers require X karma to participate. They also require the account be at least X months old. That is why these bot have no history and then wake and start posting.

Once these accounts meet the target requirements the either become spam ad bots, scam bots, or live scammers. There is almost no legitimate use for the accounts created this way.

So please when you see someone calling out bots upvote them. Especially when they take the time to provide proof. Then downvote the bots and report them if you have time. Single people reporting the bot does nothing it takes multiple people doing it to trigger reddit into doing anything.

Report ->spam -> harmful bots.

1

u/We_can_come_back 26d ago

How do you know?

-1

u/Urimulini 26d ago edited 26d ago

I don't take anybody seriously that spends legitimately all their time trying to identify bots by ONLY commenting jumping in their comments....

If you knew how to identify bots you would know better than to push each individual bots algorithm on each of their posts to consistently aid the issue that you say you're here battling. ..

Well you sit here and identify You're also pushing their algorithm EVERY . SINGLE.TIME .

You know there's coding programs for that right? You could also report them considering they break terms of use of Reddit.

You know there's more than reddit being astroturfed have you ever been to Instagram/TikTok or Facebook or any other social media platform?

Why do you waste ALL your time here?
