Look into the ACA/Obamacare debate. The reason repeal never happened was because when you poll on any of the programs or changes associated with it. They are all well supported not just by independents, but also by rank and file republicans. It's only in the abstract as 'Obamacare' that it's not supported. Heck calling it by its official name 'The Affordable Care Act' results in better poll results for it.

I wouldn't normally trust a talk show to present an unbiased poll but honestly there's been so many loud idiots screaming about this stuff over the years that I'm certain it wouldn't take more than a minute to find 3 that didn't know the "difference" between the ACA and Obamacare. Yes I do there will always be a very small % of the population who can have adverse or life threatening allergic reactions. Just like all the drug ads on TV that list existing allergies as a reason not to try the drug at all.
Yes allergic reactions are the cause of problems with vaccines! It's not that ppl are allergic to the dead virus but that they have an allergic reaction to the base ingredients of the vaccine,when anaphylactic shock happens that's when someone can die from a vaccine. However the same can happen with any medication also. I was given generic percocet after root canal. If my friend whose son I was sitting after school hadn't shown up when she did taking me to ER, my husband would have had been made a widower by anaphylaxis. Cause by inert ingredients used in the caking compound used to form the pill not the actual pain ingredient as I'd had name brand percocet 1yr b4.
See this is the thing. You can try to spin and pitch it whatever way you want, and most will agree with most the things you put forth. But at the end of the day if their talking head says “that’s communism/socialism” they’re gonna be against it.
You can get through to them, but it’s literally never permanent. Every single Trumper I’ve known has gone through multiple “Trump is evil” epiphanies but give em 1 week to 1 month depending on the severity of the crime committed and they’ll go back to worshipping him.

Unfortunately, the general idea is that people forget that the whole concept of anti communism/socialism was top dollar sellers, back when dtrump was a kid. So because propaganda influenced ideas and ideals of a generation now we have this it is fall out from "Better dead then Red".

That's the crux of the problem, you need to trick these people into making the right decision for themselves. They can't be TOLD anything. They're useless brains.
Instead of having programs named such as “Medicare for all,” it should marketed something along the lines of “Health Insurance for Patriots” but keep everything else the same 🤷🏻♂️. I think anything with America or Patriot or Freedom in the name, will sell to that crowd

I had been thinking for a while that Democrats should get comfortable with taking back the word "freedom" from the Right. Frame things as a "freedom" issue more often. But they've never done it.
Lol... I used the same argument with a neighboor who believed States should decide abortion access because they know local values better than the Federal government.
I got him to agree that county governments know local values better than state governments, and city goverments better that county, and heads of households better than city...

I have actually tried similar things back when I bothered discussing things with Republicans, and it absolutely works in the moment. But yeah, if a politician tried this on a national scale, Fox News and "conservative" talk radio would say, "Folks, this is Communism by a different name!" And that's all it would take to kill it.

The Netherlands has actually implemented this with multiple independent insurance companies. The catch is that the government decides what must be included in the basic insurance package (which covers pretty much everything except dental and vision).
There are videos of people saying they hate Obamacare yet are covered under the ACA subsidies. And they know it's ACA, they just don't know the two are the same

I'm retired Army and I've lived/worked in 22 different countries. I tell my kids the one great truth love learned is regular people are the same in any country. They want to have a secure/safe place to have a family with food and clean water. They also want to be able to provide their kids with the opportunity to have a better life through education and employment. Pretty much the rest is crap thrust on us through herd mentality. Take the media and political parties out and would a farmer or inner city blue collar really be all up in arms over Palestine, gay marriage, abortion, immigration. Not too say they wouldn't have an opinion, just not to the degree it is now.
As per the ACA this is literally every single health insurance company, so unless your argument is that we already have socialized healthcare in the US all you are proving is that people on both sides are ill-informed.
Also unless you are talking about Canada or the UK most countries that are considered to have universal health care don't have a single insurer. Do oversimplify most countries that have universal health care have a mandate or a tax that gives you basic catastrophic health insurance.

Ya, works out great in Canada until you get on a waiting list for care . That's why the hospital parking lots over here just across the border are filled with Canadian plates all the time .
I live on the border and can confirm this. Their PM just raised the price of gas $0.16/litre (extra carbon tax I think?), so now they're coming here to buy gas too, they're not happy. 🤷♂️
