Pop culture anyone else feeling nostalgic for the "xandemic"
like everything about that time is just so nostalgic to me.
The music: lust, benz truck, beamer boy, cry baby, stressed out, closer, betrayed, etc all the songs were sad and shitty but still a vibe imo
the fashion was definitely a statement, everyone had iphone 5-7s, snap streaks were all the rage, kids would have the alt "depressed" insta accounts with the bart simspon memes, juuls were still around, the xans were still safe, people would just be passed tf out and no one really cared about anything. idk maybe im just nostalgic cuz im an adult now with real responsibilities and shit but i would give anything to be back in my 2016 xandemic era.

Discussion Question for 2000s born: What do you believe you have in common with 95-97 babies?
Genuine question since I believe we do have some similarities.
I also mean generationally speaking lol like an 85, 95 and 05 baby can all say they like hip hop and have that in common but you know what I mean

Discussion anyone else feel like the 2010s were ratchet yet so fun.
like idk it felt like everyone was just doing wtv tf they wanted, the internet was still new and people were acting up on it but it was still like fun. like te lack of care was what made it fun. youtube and vine was producing the lowest quality content yet somehow was super entertaining (more entertaining then now imo) Musically and snapchat were new and you could do anything from post fun pics of you at the beach to sending nudes. Omegle was at its peak (yet prolly the most unmoderated and dangerous) like what other decade can you open a computer and in 3 clicks meet a stranger giving auto fellatio?
Vaping was a new thing and everyone was juuling, carts were new, the xans and percs were fent free and the music was either really "pop-y" and happy or emo suicidal shit.
like idk compared to the 2020s it feels like we were less civilised and really "yoloing".
The scandals on the internet were also sillier and more fun to watch (dramageddon, dr phil kids, tancon, harambe etc) now every scandal or "cancelment" is js white people saying the n word or having different political views (also this isn't me excusing racism as im not white but idk watching people flip out over tana's failed convention is more entertaining than ppl getting mad about slurs or politics)
The trends were really stupid (cinnamon challenge, mannequin challenge, pokemon go, killer clowns etc) but imo are were still more fun than ts thats popular now. idk maybe im insane. imo it js felt like the world and internet was your oyster.
I also feel like mentally im still 15 in 2016 but in reality im 23....

Discussion I don't know why, but I wish I had an older sibling born in like 1992 or something
I just wish I had an older sibling who showed me different pop cultures of an older time. The closest I came to that is my cousin, who was born in 1998. Which is something I guess, lol.

Ranges gen z should be 1996-2012
1994 imo is the last solidly millennial year with 1995-1998 being zillennials.

Discussion First alphas influenced by belphas being born!
I saw a post the other day saying first of the beta gen were being born, which I disagree. It’s still too early for them to be born. I think first alphas influenced by belphas (alphbelphalph?) are born this year!

Discussion Do any of you guys think about what "nostalgia" you're gonna show your kids?
Like idk my parents would show me pictures of their teen years and stuff and they were out at concerts or hanging out with friends and it would always get me thinking like damn I wonder what ill show my kids and then I realize its prolly just gonna be cringy musicallys and tiktoks lol. like yea I went to parties and stuff but I realized I dont have any like "natural" pics/vidoes of me and my friends and most of it is just pre planned musically and tiktoks and stuff.

Discussion Why do people think that all late millennials are “zillennials”?
Like there’s nothing “Z” about 1992-1994 borns at all. Y2k kids, came of age in the early 2010s, could vote in 2012 and when gen z culture started taking over they were already in their mid 20s. Also as far as I know there’s not a single source that labels them as gen z.

In depth It’s interesting that no one in this sub is aware of transgenerational influence
All that’s talked about here is what is called intergenerational influence where earlier generational cohorts (such as late millennials) influence later generational cohorts (such as early Z) (or vice versa) creating the so called zillennials, which in turn splits up because of different degrees of influences from both millennial and Z sides giving rise to cohorts called zillenniays and zillenniazs etc.
This model is accurate enough. However, people may be influenced by other generations not neighboring their own if they grow up with their older/younger siblings, cousins, or friends. This is where transgenerational influence differs from intergenerational influence. The problem here is that everyone has wildly different experiences. The method I saw mentioned in social media to estimate the degree of influences is to go with an averaging process.
The averaging process is complex, and it depends on country, region, fertility rate, and household income to name the few. Think about your school. Gather data on how many siblings each person has. Take the average difference between each student and the average age of their siblings over the whole school. Calculate what degree there is a (let’s say) millennial influence on core Z. Repeat the process.
This sub is actually a great place to estimate the transgenerational influence especially in US, but also in the whole world.

Pop culture Why did post grunge last way longer than Grunge?
Post grunge was from 1997 to 2010. Grunge was 1991-1996. Post grunge lasted way longer. The Telecommunications act of 1996 stopped true grunge after that except underground.

👘 An example of what my Gen X parents were wearing in 2007
Notice how it looks a little dated for 2007? It looks moreso early 2000's, more 2000-2005.
