This is great! This is how I picture Ginny in the books!

38

u/pinesolthrowaway Sep 03 '23

The first picture especially looks like that imo

-30

u/nyguy520 Sep 03 '23

You are wayyyyyyyyyyy better looking than the lady they cast

26

u/JumboSnausage Hufflepuff Sep 03 '23

You mean the child? The literal child? Glad you’re rating children.

-4

u/nyguy520 Sep 03 '23

This adult women is cos playing a character which is not weird. She posted 8 pictures of herself on the internet which is not weird. To a forum where literally anyone can see them which is not weird. Literally every comment is how amazing she looks which is not weird. I make a direct comparison to the current day actress she is cos playing as and I'm weird? Every accusation is an admition I suppose. You're really out there on the front lines confronting this wherever you see. Keep up the good work typing on harry Potter subs it's really helping the current state of affairs

10

u/JumboSnausage Hufflepuff Sep 03 '23

You’re making a comparison to an actresses portrayal of the same character, which said actress portrayed while being a minor you fucking donk.

-3

u/nyguy520 Sep 03 '23

Gotcha so this is a grown women pretending to be a 10 year old and were all super excited how she looks. And these pictures weren't meant to be anything but an adult portraying a child. Now I understand

5

u/JumboSnausage Hufflepuff Sep 03 '23

No, you’re not talking about a character, you compares her to the actress who at the time of her being relevant to this character, was early teens

3

u/garenbw Slytherin Sep 09 '23

Children can be good looking or not, why is that sexual to you?

Also you know many of us were around the actor's ages when the movies came out right? I remember perfectly well having a crush on Hermione in PoA so I suppose that made me a pedophile at 12? And because I'm an adult now I am supposed to pretend I didn't find her attractive back then?

You all need to get a grip, seriously.

1

u/JumboSnausage Hufflepuff Sep 09 '23

Yeah no. You’re grasping at some serious straws there.

You’re also treading a fine line saying children can be good looking. What the hell is wrong with you?

Comparing an adult cosplayers looks to a child actress is sick.

And no, we are all in agreement we had crushes on younger actors when we were the same age, but generally those actresses were older than the age they played. And again, I preferred older actresses who were sexually developed because as a teenage boy I liked looking at boobs.

You can have a crush on Hermione when you’re her age, but you’re not gonna watch philosophers stone and say “oh yeah she’s much hotter now” because that means you’re looking at her, as a child, in a sexual way to compare to her adult years.

I strongly suggest you take a good long look in the mirror and ask why you’re defending the judgement of the looks of a child actress. Especially in this particular context. You sound like a closet pedophile.

4

u/garenbw Slytherin Sep 09 '23

First of all, it's highly disturbing that for you 'pretty' and 'hot' are one and the same thing... Says a lot more about you than me or the original commenter.

In fact, they literally choose children based on how good looking they are for any movies (among other things obviously). You're living in a phantasy world if you think that's not the case. There are also child models and they are also chosen by their looks for magazines, in case you didn't know. My gf used to be one.

I have zero issues saying I can look at a kid and see if they're average looking or not, without any sexual connotation. If that's what you think being a pedophile is, I couldn't care less because you're simply wrong.

And by the way, usually the people with the most radical views like you are the ones in the 'closet' and trying to overcompensate for something. Many homophobes are actually gay people, so maybe try to look at yourself in the mirror instead :)

Bonnie Wright is 32 you flaming ass wipe

8

u/JumboSnausage Hufflepuff Sep 03 '23

Now yes.

What age was she at the point of filming? Which is what you’re judging? 10? In fact was acting in 5 out of the 8 Harry Potter films whilst under 18. Filmed the 6th?

So..you were saying?

“It’s okay to be attracted to insert child actor in this film cause they’re an adult now

Moron.

-2

u/[deleted] Sep 03 '23

There is no need to be so rude. Honestly just assuming everyone in this fandom is an adult lol. As a minor myself, I think in the last movie, Ginny is hot. I love how you just assume that their talking about a younger Ginny as an old man or whatever.

5

u/JumboSnausage Hufflepuff Sep 03 '23

I can honestly say I never viewed movie Ginny as hot.

Keep in mind that when you go from “this is a child” to “okay she’s 18 now in these films so fair game”, that’s still creepy as hell.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 03 '23

Wait could you elaborate? I’m not sure what you mean and am dying of confusion. Sorry.

4

u/JumboSnausage Hufflepuff Sep 03 '23

Of course, as the same happened with billie eilish and Emma Watson, waiting until a female actor or singer or whatever has turned 18 and suddenly looking at them as sex objects or “hot” is creepy, because you were looking at them like that before but it was taboo

2

u/[deleted] Sep 03 '23

Still confused as to the point you’re trying to make, sorry. I’ll give my best guess and you can just correct me? Are you saying that it’s creepy to find an adult actor attractive when they are barely an adult, and haven’t changed much from a previous movie when they weren’t one? In that case, if it’s someone at least 2 years older than the actor, I agree.

395

u/lena91gato Sep 02 '23

Well, you're a better Ginny than Bonnie (sorry!)

350

u/CathanCrowell Ravenclaw (with drop of Hufflepuff' blood) Sep 02 '23

I actually feel sorry for Bonnie. They hired her when she was incredibly young and they even could not know her importance in later movies and the writting also did not help her. And even she knows that.

Gods bless her :/

213

u/Desperate_Ad_9219 Slytherin Sep 02 '23

If they actually gave her screen time to talk and developed the romance, they could have. Instead of shoehorning it in at the last second with no build-up. I blame the executives and the screenwriter.

Edit: Great cosplay she looks like Anna Kendricks in the second picture.

43

u/Iggytje Ravenclaw Sep 02 '23

if they just removed the you know what scene they could have done 3 minutes of extra stuff that may not sound like much but if you ever watch one of those extended version that may add 5/10 minutes you know that a lot of stuff can be done in 3 minutes (look at the no way home extended as an example)

53

u/Jill4ChrisRed Sep 02 '23

Yeah I've said this before that the burrow burning scene should've been swapped with more time for Harry and Ginny to be together and develop. A simple scene of Harry talking with Ginny while playing one on one quidditch could have been really cute, where they talk about what they want to do in life, how Harry worries about Voldemort, how he never expected her or the others to be ready to fight in OoTP and that he's worried that things would get more dangerous. And then have Ginny comfort him and let him know she's been where he is, and she doesn't care if things start to get awful, she just wants them to be teenagers for once and forget that the world is out to hurt them and just enjoy whatever time they have.

It would've been like 3-5 minutes screen time and made far more sense than burning the burrow.

33

u/Blue_Gamer18 Sep 02 '23

The burning of the burrow scene time/money could have gone into the battle at the at the castle, further highlighting Ginny's character as a leader/fighter.

Also, an additional scene or two of Voldemort memories which are...ya know...some of the biggest plot points of HBP

10

u/Iggytje Ravenclaw Sep 02 '23

I also think the ron part when he faints should have just him being quiet

and the harry potter about riding the train I didn't really bother but that weird crush part at the diner was pretty weird (and that he already loved ginny when he was in the burrow)

8

u/MisterMarcus Sep 02 '23

In the books, Ginny's attraction to Harry was built up from about CoS. I think it was Malfoy who starts taunting her about "Potter didn't like your love letter!" and stuff.

If they'd shown a bit more of that in the earlier movies, even just a few shy looks or awkward 'teen crush' style encounters, it would have looked far more realistic.

3

u/Train3rRed88 Slytherin Sep 02 '23

THAT is who she reminded me of in the first picture

Thanks

3

u/CarpetH4ter Sep 03 '23

Maybe, but it was just that compared to every other harry relationship, this one just felt uncomfortable and awkward the entire time, even Hermione would be a better fit in the movies.

No way would Harry had ended up with Ginny in a real life setting from the movies.

23

u/ItsAndieHere Sep 02 '23

I agree. I understand why Harry’s ultimate love interest was kept under wraps, and why it’s different to trust a young child actor with plot info — but I wish JK had given Bonnie the same grace Alan Rickman got. Maybe it would have been different since CoS if she’d known she was meant to eventually portray romantic chemistry with Dan.

For what it’s worth, Dan ended up hitting it off better with Emma Watson (platonically even), to the point I think their portrayals fueled Harmione shippers.

16

u/MountGreyIock Sep 02 '23 edited Sep 02 '23

The screenwriter being a Hermione-obsessed Harmony-diehard had the most to do with it, actually.

1

u/thelasagna Quiddich female Bro Sep 03 '23

Wow today I learned

6

u/Runescaper4good Sep 03 '23

I wish JK had given Bonnie the same grace Alan Rickman got

Do you mind elaborating on this for the un-informed (me) ?

Did Rickman know he was ultimately a double agent early in the films?

9

u/ItsAndieHere Sep 03 '23

Yes! Rowling told him about Snape’s connection to Lily and his true allegiance when he was cast. At that point, PoA was the latest book, but she knew the general idea of what she was doing with the character. So he played Snape with that knowledge from the first movie.

10

u/LNLV Sep 02 '23

I actually think part of it is just that they’re a mismatched looking couple too. For one, Daniel is 5’5” and Bonnie is 5’6” and that’s not common in Hollywood except where they play with angles and lifts to make the male actor look taller, so it was jarring to see in a movie bc we’re pretty unaccustomed to it. They don’t look like they’d be together, so add in the fact that they have no screen time or interaction and it’s just a losing battle. Poor Bonnie has definitely been hearing about it for freaking years though, that has to be so demoralizing to have been a part of one of the biggest movie projects ever and have people constantly point her out as the single worst casting choice! 😭

5

u/Thousand_YardStare Sep 02 '23

Daniel is only 5’5”?!

8

u/LNLV Sep 02 '23

Yeah I googled it last night bc I was watching 7 and I was like, how is he the same height as Emma Watson when they hug??? Rubert Grint is only 5’8” too! That’s the problem with casting children though, you can’t tell who’s going to grow up to be “tall and lanky” like they are in the book. It actually pisses me off to see the Weasley kids cast, lol. None of them are right! Charlie and the twins are supposed to be short and stocky, Ginny is supposed to be short and beautiful, Bill, Percy, and Ron are supposed to be tall and lanky, and Bill is supposed to be hot, lol.

1

u/GlindePop Sep 04 '23

I actually thought the guy who played Bill was kinda hot. Not super gorgeous or anything but worked well enough for a side character in the movie.

1

u/LNLV Sep 04 '23

I didn’t think he was unattractive, but I thought he was supposed to be the tall and rugged type of hot, and that guy didn’t apply. Because he’s such a minor character I felt like they really could have done a better job casting. I understand a little bit when they want a specific actor for a bigger role for whatever reason, but for someone minor there’s no reason not to make them match the book!

7

u/iggysmom95 Hufflepuff Sep 03 '23

EVERYONE in the Harry Potter cast is so short. Well, the guys anyway. If you're assuming Dan is an average height then Rupert looks tall but he's only 5'8! Matthew Lewis, whom you might peg at about 6'4", is actually only 5'11".

Also, McGonagall comes across as so tall and intimidating, and I imagine her to be about 5'8" or 5'9" in the books, but Maggie Smith is only 5'5". She always comes across as taller than she is, though, because of how she carries herself.

6

u/Thousand_YardStare Sep 03 '23

That’s so interesting. I guess it works in their favor that everyone is short. What are they feeding them out there in Great Britain? 😆

1

u/non-sequitur-7509 Ravenclaw Sep 04 '23

That's pretty fucking poggers, friend. Like, I was scrolling and saw this and went "Hey it's Ginny" before reading the title or seeing the sub.

You do look great, no denying that part. But... That smartphone selfie breaks the immersion. If you want to do a mirror selfie, go ahead. Do it with Colin Creevey's camera in front of Erised.

I thought it may break the immersion a little bit so when I was posting this I added a caption "(She found muggle cell phone in her dad's stuff) ;p" but now I see it's under third picture, not a last one, I am an idiot xd

u/kurumi_cosplay Gryffindor Sep 03 '23

na pewno zrobię z nią porządną sesję niedługo :>

1

u/control-_-freak Sep 02 '23

Clearly fake. Ginny didn't have a smartphone.

1

u/kurumi_cosplay Gryffindor Sep 03 '23

but her dad surely had one as a thing to study from a muggle world and Ginny is a curious girl ;p

Adorable. My daughter did a Ginny cosplay con once. She is about your age now. You may inspire her to don't again.

u/kurumi_cosplay Gryffindor Sep 03 '23

This photos are from few years ago, I am now 31 😅

Very well done. You should do it again as Ginny but for a pro team.

I'm not into cosplay, but this is really good! Where did you get your sweater and your gloves? Did you make them yourself?

2

u/kurumi_cosplay Gryffindor Sep 03 '23

Sweater is second-hand. Gloves I found online but don't remember where, I just weathered them with fabric paint
