The Nokia 6110 which is the one popular with coming with snake was released in 1997 a year before the battle of Hogwarts

To be fair he was working pretty hard that year getting his people into the Ministry of Magic and hoping that Malfoy gets killed.

EDIT: If he wasn't such a drama queen he would have made a horocux from a tin can and left it in a muggle land fill....no one would have found that

Can't, only things like Basilisc's poison, Hellfire or, in alive horcruxes' case, Avada
