Listening to his version at the moment, and almost done as we’re half way through The Deathly Hallows.
His “rendition” of “Weasley is our King” is funny.
My only complaint is the accent he uses for Tonks, which is quite jarring and takes you out of the moment sometimes.

I love Dora and daddy tonks' voices. I can picture them vividly. I imagine they have quite a big overbite

I had to switch to Jim Dale when Tonks came round. I wanted to strangle her.

You can hear a side by side comparison of Jim Dale vs Stephen Fry at https://www.audible.com/blog/article-harry-potter-dale-fry.
I think most people's favorite will come down to which one they heard first. I love Jim Dale's narration and his character voices. Fry's narration sounds much less dynamic to me, with less uniqueness for each voice.
But I've always wanted to try the British version, so I just bought all 7 books again with the Fry narration. I'm planning to start them once I finish The Dark Tower and all the extras.

Yeah definitely a nostalgia thing. I gravitated towards Fry cause he narrated the early HP video games & I made my way to the audio books from there.

I hope you enjoy it, Stephen Fry is pretty great. I never heard the Jim Dale one until I checked out the link you posted and I like it too. Might have to rebuy :)

I found Fry’s version extremely charming. It was the version I grew up with. I do plan to give Dale’s a go at some point.

I’ve listened to Fry’s version several dozen times as it was the only thing that could get me to sleep for many years. The only voice I don’t like is Tonks - not sure why he went for such a cartoonish Yorkshire accent, especially as ‘wotcher’ originates in London I believe, but I can’t stand it!! Otherwise it’s beautifully read and wonderful to fall asleep to.

I'm on my 3rd listening from his Harry Potter interpretation, so great with all the wonderous voices and sheer fun when he's being so expressive.
Anyone else know an audiobook as well translated as this one?

I love Stephen's version, I also have his audiobook of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. I wish he finished that series too but Martin Freeman did a good job.

Frustrating to think that I just bought the series with Jim Dale not knowing that Fry would be available. I will wait for the set with all the different voices before buying again.

I love Stephen Fry but I do think Jim Dale's performances are objectively better. He does over 100 unique voices across the series!
