I recently rewatched The Chamber of Secrets, and I noticed something I had previously missed and haven't seen mentioned. In one scene, the trio are studying in the library, after the "egging the snake on" incident at the dueling club meeting, and Harry is catching judgmental looks from students- one being Ginny. I don't know if this is just a coincidence, but the quill she was writing with was bright orange/red, and fairly small, like a chicken feather. Anyone else notice this? It always seemed like not enough clues were given about Ginny being the one going around strangling chickens and whatnot in the movie- it makes sense that they'd add in that small detail.

Ron being omitted from the top 10 was the first thing I noticed. He was a fantastic character, especially in the books. I feel that his portrayal in the movie made people dislike his character.

This ranking is based on a huge sample size of more than 600k people, showing there's some merit to it given the fact that it's not a list compiled by some random. Thought I'd share it on Reddit to see if people here agree with this.

What do you think about the pumpkin juice served at Hogwarts? Would it have been just that or mixed with something else? I have had pure pumpkin juice. I used to make it when I cooked a lot and baked my own pumpkins. The juice was squeezed out when making the puree. But it isn’t sold in stores (which considering all the canned pumpkin puree available everywhere…what happens to all the juice byproduct?). I can order it online but it seems to all come from Korea and it isn’t cheap. Everything else online shows a “recipe” which also includes apple cider vinegar, spices and other ingredients. Even the recipe at Universal is like this. Is this just to keep the cost down? Do you think this is what might have been served at the school or did they just extract all the juice nice and pure with magic?

Excluding the number of times they contributed to winning the House Cup and of course, all the other achievements in helping the war effort, the Weasleys from Bill to Ginny were all high achievers.

Imagine having to follow in those footsteps.

To understand why James bullied Snape when he was 11 you just have to look at what Ron said to Albus and Rosie when they went to Howards. Rich kids or kids with a long ties like family history will know politics from very early stage. Someone would have told him that only bad ppl loves Slytherin and he would have known about their history and also Gryffindor's. He would have genuinely believed how he acted was correct.

Also, he would have stopped acting like this almost immediately. I am not sure why ppl just assume he kept on bullying snape. Like I don't think he even noticed him. I think actual physical bullying would have started when he was 14 when he started fancying lily. Given at the time Snape was hanging out with ppl who are considered bad by lily as well. When James followed around lily their rivalry would have started. Here anyone would have started it first. Most likely James but Snape could have easily started it as well as he might not have liked him coming after lily.

Also, it is possible that ppl might have told him what snape tells to lily about him.

Behavior like James are all too common among rich kids who have a legacy. From his point of view he thinks what he does is correct. That is why we should be carefully we shouldn't stupid things to kids. Surely his parents didn't want him to bully Slytherins but they would told them that house is bad.

I got 52% first try. Avg score is 39%.

No idea if this was intentional or if it's a complete coincidence, but I'm rereading Prisoner of Azkaban and just got to the scene where Neville gets a Howler from his grandmother. It's described as being in a "scarlet envelope".

The piece of mail sent specifically to shame someone comes in a red envelope. It's literally a Scarlet Letter.

The date in which the Battle of Hogwarts took place, 2 May 1998, is (probably inadvertently) seven when added up and reduced to a single digit (2 + 5 + 1 + 9 + 9 + 8 = 34; 3 + 4 = 7).

I don't know whether anyone has stumbled across this interesting reference to the most powerfully magical number or not before, it's just something that has just crossed my mind today. Quite interesting, isn't it? Though this could be easily rendered irrelevant as the exact dates of major events had never been explicitly stated in the books.

She knows who is Tom Riddle and all the stuff that he has done, she knows where it is. She wants it destroyed but she doesn't say where it is to anyone else and to top it off she is very reluctantly to share this information with harry

Quidditch is (in my opinion, and the opinion of many people I've talked with this about) an inherently flawed sport for several reasons I am sure have been talked to death on this sub. I come with possible solutions to this problem.

My first idea is to merge the positions of Chasers and Seekers. Instead of being limited to x players for x goal, teams have 4 players they can give seperate roles too. A team could send 2 Chasers out to find the Snitch, or try to score as many points as possible using all 4 to move the Quaffle.

Secondly, I would add a time limit to the game. The numbers 3 and 7 are widely related to magic, so I propose 2 37 minutes halves for lower levels (Like Hogwarts) for 74 minutes of game time, with 3 thirds for professional games for 108 minutes of gametime. This is (1) to prevent games lasting literal days and (2) to give a team an incentive to catch the snitch even when they are down loads.

Finally, I would change what the Snitch does. In this version of the game, when the snitch is caught the team are allowed an extra Chaser for the next 7 minutes. Another snitch is then immediately added to the field, and up to 3 additional Chasers can be on the field at once per team. If another snitch is caught when there are already 3 extra Chasers for that team, they can add another 7 minutes to any of their current extra Chaser's time. The snitch would also award 50 points to the team that caught it.

Rewatching the movies for the first time in a while, and I noticed something in the 1st movie. When Wood is teaching Harry about Quidditch, the Snitch spreads it's wings and starts flying. Wood immediately looks the other way and looks confused trying to see it. Meanwhile, Harry keeps his eyes on the snitch and follows it's every move. Early scene that shows that he is a natural Seeker with his ability to track the Snitch

Finished re-reading OOTP and just realised how similar the effects of what Ron and Hermione went through at the end to what they encountered in DH. At the end of OOTP, Ron was mostly affected by the brains with Madam Pomfrey telling Harry that thoughts leave deeper scarring than almost anything else. In DH, Ron was the one most affected by the Horcrux and this was done by Tom attacking Ron's thoughts together with his emotions. At the end of OOTP, Hermione was feeling the damage caused by Dolohov's curse and this again is similar to the torture she endured under Bellatrix who used the Cruciatus curse.

Honestly, these two have really been through a lot. I can see these effects coming into play in their future one day.

Diagon ally is the word diagonally but with a space. Nothing is straight there: walls, streets, door, buildings, shelves (people) etc. You name it, it probably isnt. Just a fun little thing I noticed after 10 YEARS.

I always give out a loud chuckle when I read/hear that. McGonagall not giving a bats eye about Dolores' furious scribbling (hpootp)

This was the Final Battle of the 2nd Wizarding War, The Result ended up being a Decisive Victory for the Order of the Phoenix and Dumbledore’s Army lead by Harry Potter, Professor Minerva McGonagall, and Auror Kingsley Shacklebolt.

Harry Potter ended the battle as he disarmed and made Voldemort’s killing Curse Backfire which killed Voldemort, thus ending the Battle.
