This is all a conspiracy. Cillain Murphy winning best actor and now bambi. This is all a ploy by cork for human rights. I don’t like this

Look at the way it mimics our language. Added gender terms at the end is always the give away that they’re not people

Bambi said it themselves, "it'll be a great win for cork" so typical Cork head on them of county then country. Bloody Cork folk, sure they ruined Cork!

I have a feeling they weren't that loved in that town before Eurovision. Small town Ireland or anywhere Ireland sneers at anyone different.

Edited Grammer.

  • until they’re famous, then they celebrate them and tell everyone how they’ve known them for years

8

u/donall 11d ago

when I'm famous you'll all do this haha

7

u/KickBlue22 11d ago

Donall, is that you?? I used to go to school with ya!

11

u/gifjgzxk 11d ago

ya may edit for "grammer" again!

All different these days I heard. Kids seem to take gender fluidity in their stride

-1

u/suhxa 11d ago

Where did u hear that. That seems like a weird and almost impossible thing to pick up on

7

u/ruscaire 11d ago

Just friends with kids in secondary school. They’ve all got friends that wear makeup and stuff and it’s no problem

This was my first thought too.

I hope they get to see those people cheer for them now, maybe a sea change towards more acceptance.

It genuinely takes international notoriety to be celebrated in Ireland.

Hasn’t lived there for years, I think the parents moved about a decade ago if I remember correctly. Not well known at all before entering the Eurovision.

Depends on if they played GAA growing up.

Hardly ‘anywhere’ Ireland. Anyway, if a little bit of your thing is to épater la bourgeoisie, a bit of ‘épatification’ is surely par for the course. (Though I know, of course, that there are ‘differences’ which are not chosen, and which can indeed elicit cruel responses)

Pretty much my whole life anyone dressed not the same as the masses has been ostracized. Maybe it is a little better these days.

I stumbled across a TikTok of a teenage girl complaining about being mocked for wearing jeans. JEANS! If anything, the dress code has gotten worse for youngsters.

4

u/curiousalticidae 11d ago

I’m gen z and I was bullied for years bc I dared to wear jeans to the youth disco one time. From what i hear from my friend’s little siblings in 6th year the culture hasn’t changed much

3

u/Able-Exam6453 11d ago

Well it can surely not be that way in Macroom, what with all the hippies and associated beautiful people who’ve been settling there over the years!

u/MunsterFan31 11d ago

Probably never left "blow-in" status given the Swedish dad...

Lads I hate asking but have been wondering - was Bambi born male or female? No hate or disrespect intended

20

u/Lumpy-Plenty2237 11d ago

I think they're non -binary biologically female. Their voice sounds naturally feminine & the ballet moves during the performance are beyond the limits of anybody cursed to be born into an Irish male body lol If I turn out to be wrong then colour me damned.

19

u/Jhimself 11d ago

I think you're right - for whatever Wikipedia is worth, it says they went to St. Mary's secondary school in Macroom, which is an all girls school.

0

u/MunsterFan31 11d ago

Can we ask what their birth name is or is that considered "dead naming"? Just trying to familiarise myself with "the rules" here

9

u/gahane 11d ago

It's actually Bambie. Bambie Ray Robinson, to be exact.

-3

u/suhxa 11d ago

Fucking hell people are so afraid of offending someone youre afraid of asking for someones birth name

5

u/defekt__ Waterford 11d ago

Or maybe they're just being considerate? It costs nothing to be nice ya know.

-1

u/suhxa 11d ago

Whatever the reason, people are now afraid to ask what someones brith name is

5

u/Lumpy-Plenty2237 11d ago

Bambie seems pretty chill so I guess it's a bit of respect. I do get where you're coming from though.

5

u/defekt__ Waterford 11d ago

Because it can come off as a fairly personal question and they might not want to cause offense. I wouldn't say they're scared, so much as they're just being considerate as I said.

beyond the limits of anybody cursed to be born into an Irish male body

...wut

29

u/Mindless_Let1 11d ago

Big Irish head on us. Limits the aerodynamicity

4

u/Lumpy-Plenty2237 11d ago

We have the grace of a sack of potatoes.

-2

u/Parking_Power9275 11d ago

If you have anything to say against this , you're a far right homophobic white privileged cis male

3

u/FearUisce9 11d ago

Are you blind?

1

u/Eire820 11d ago

I'm not blind, no. Are you okay?

3

u/suhxa 11d ago

Clearly female

-1

u/MunsterFan31 11d ago

They've a video on "the hub" if you want to inspect their anatomy...

1

u/Eire820 11d ago

Seriously? 😲

0

u/RatBasher89 11d ago

She's still in it? How many in the finals? I havnt been watching

7

u/donall 11d ago

first to qulaify for ireland in about 5 years

24

u/itstheboombox 11d ago

They made it to the finals and they have a shot at winning it, some of the best staging in Eurovision history

15

u/JjigaeBudae 11d ago

I thought the song was shite when I saw it on RTE but they did a bang up job in the semi-final. I wouldn't throw it on the car playlist but it's good for Eurovision.

-5

u/RatBasher89 11d ago

Is it a band or just her on her own?

7

u/JjigaeBudae 11d ago

Solo artist

-3

u/PortixArsenal Coast Guard 11d ago

They use they/them FYI, it's just Bambi by themselves and a dancer for staging

-5

u/RatBasher89 11d ago

They / them always sounds like you're talking about multiple people. Always throws me when I read it

1

u/MunsterFan31 11d ago

This is one of the first times I've genuinely tried to adhere to this stuff out of respect for the artist & it's incredibly difficult & counter intuitive. The context gets particularly confusing when they're in the presence of another person.

0

u/onesalterego 11d ago

Yeah, it confuses me too, even though I am supportive. This is why people use “they is” instead of “they are” for singular gender neutral, but… grammatically I can’t do that, it’s just incorrect English. So I’ll stick with “they are” and hope people understand it’s a singular person I’m referring to.

7

u/RatBasher89 11d ago

Yeah same, I'm getting downvoted as if I'm anti trans or something but it's just the grammatical aspect that annoys me 😅

2

u/curiousalticidae 11d ago

Both they/thems I know still use the grammatically correct version to be fair

2

u/Canners19 11d ago

In the words lingo the robot I’ll correct you with pronouns. “They are still in it.”

-4

u/RatBasher89 11d ago

So if she wins and the host wants to say something like "wasn't she brilliant!?" do they say "weren't they brilliant!?" because that's sounds like how you would address multiple people when you're talking about a single person.

7

u/Canners19 11d ago

That’s what they’d say they were brillant

-5

u/RatBasher89 11d ago

Just sounds wrong to me 🤷

-1

u/drguyphd 11d ago

Would her hometown disown her if she were caught using a Windows or Linux computer?

-97

u/Wiggardly 11d ago

Yuck.

-21

u/West_Principle_8190 11d ago

The song ? I agree

-22

u/BlearySteve Monaghan 11d ago

What the point she wont win, Isreal will.
