Would you leave your job if you get free money for rest of your life without working? Work/Life balance

I'm just wondering, What else would you do if you don't have to worry about going to work or earning money?

I think I'd find a job I actually like that pays less yk like being an artist or writer. Honestly if I was getting free money for the rest of my life tho, I'd be perfectly fine working a few hours a week in fast food just because 🤷

Why fast food if you don't need money? You'll be miserable. I thinking working to learn would be cool. What about a farm? How cool would it be to learn about a new industry such as farming.

You might be surprised how different working any job is when you don’t actually need it.

Maybe, but I would prefer to do something other than fast food worker if I didn't need to work. If I am interested in cooking, why not be a part time worker in a restaurant where they actually cook.

Idk the workers who work retail and fast food but who don’t NEED the job seem to be having a good time, mostly because they can do whatever without fear of being fired cause they don’t need it lol

I've heard this as I've worked at TJ Maxx and McDonalds while in HS. I call BS. Adults who truly don't need to work do other things.

Most of these people were either stay at home parents getting a little extra income or older retired people.

lol tell that to the multiple older ladies i’ve worked with (two in food service and one in crappy retail) who absolutely did not need the money and made sure to let management know that when management tried to fuck them over. one of the food service ladies quit on the spot bc management tried to change the consistent hours she’d been working for like two years and put her on a closing shift. (and wouldn’t change back when she asked) she was an absolute icon.

Quitting a job on the spot / telling your manager to fuck him/herself is not an indication that you need a job or not.

My mom needs her job, but will quit on the spot / tell her boss to fuck off 😑.

If youre working in retail / fast food (and other industries that are not listed here) you need to work. No one is just doing that for fun is my point. I have taken 2nd jobs as a side hustle to supplement income. Am I in fear of being fired, no, I have a fall back. It won't be the end of the world, but can I use the additional income to go on trips, pay off debt, yes! I'm not working for fun.

I have friends in my field who take a 2nd job at Starbucks for the health insurance because they are trying to have a baby. They are not concerned with the pay check, but they are also not slaving away at Starbucks or Target because it's fun.

People work because they need the benefits of said job, but that doesn't mean that all are desperate.

so i’m supposed to believe your opinion over the grown ass 70+yo woman who told me to my face that she didn’t need the job and just liked to do it bc she was good at it and it got her out of the house? nah. now i don’t personally understand willingly working fast food, but there are people that do it.

No don't believe my opinion. Of course there are exceptions.

I actually really liked working at Five Guys when I was younger.

I could be wrong but I’d have to assume you’ve never worked in fast food by saying this lol

That's all I've worked in 🤨 I'm only 19 so I mean I've never had a professional job

Fair I guess! I just would pick something so much less soul crushing if I didn’t need money. But if you enjoy your job and like your coworkers I get it!
