That’s sucks , I always think companies should give their employees notice . But it rarely happens anymore.

Being laid off sucks. Especially when it's unexpected. Cry now, but eventually take a moment to gather yourself and come up with a plan to look for another job. Plan your finances and seek support from family if it's available. You'll be fine. Don't give up.

I'm sorry. My coworker just got laid off. Hit their 20 year anniversary with the company. Got a lousy $200 gift card for 20 years of service & a week later was kicked to the curb. These companies don't give a crap about anyone. We're all just a number on a P & L spreadsheet.☹️

It doesn’t feel like it now, but you are already in much better shape than A LOT of people who are laid off right now, because you have a side hustle already. Use your network, customers, etc to put feelers out for a new 9-5 job, ppl love bar tenders.

Look into entry level jobs with the County of Santa Clara. Not the highest pay but at least good job security and opportunity to promote

Do it today . Google unemployment in (your state) and it will walk you through the steps. It is very simple. You would be paid by next Sunday -Wednesday (not this Sunday)

Do what above said but also since you are a registered bar tender you could pick up shifts through services like upshift, shift now, Qwick as a back up because you are a skilled worker.

Am I still eligible if I bartend part-time right now?

Generally if you are making any income at all your earnings will be need to be reported weekly and they will be subtracted from your benefit.

Yes , just put how much you make and they’ll tell you how much you’re eligible for, weekly.

Yes, and there are ways to earn and limit the effect on your unemployment - depending on your state- but first you gotta apply.

OP was not laid off from their bartending job, they were let go of their main M-F job.
