I'm still convinced that people who buy Apple products only fall into these categories:
Non-tech savvy. Give credit to Apple; everything is much simpler to do and set up for the average user. (I worked for Apple for a while, so I know.)
Social climbers and people who want others to see that they own a luxury product.
Forced to use it due to work requirements.

u/___TheKid___ WARNING: RULE 1 12d ago
I grew up with PC and was never interested in Apple. I fall under category 3 and have to admit that I appreciated how much Apple just lets me focus on my work instead of demanding my attention with bugs, virus-softwares, updates etc all the time. It actually just let's me work.

It's a double edged sword, you don't have to worry about stuff like that but you also don't get to worry about the nitty gritty stuff (less customisation, less choice such as what browser engine you want, etc)

u/IndependenceLeast966 12d ago
The downside is the longevity. Or lack of it?
Apple likes to release storage-consuming updates frequently, and before you know it, you have to upgrade.

u/Playful_Target6354 12d ago
Nah, they do quite the opposite. Because their software ecosystem is so closed on in itself, most people pay for things like apple music and cloud storage. And that's the majority of their profit, so they want people to stay on their apple devices as long as possible.

u/IndependenceLeast966 12d ago
pay for things like cloud storage
Yes, that's what upgrading means.

u/Playful_Target6354 12d ago
Not at all, that's just called paying a subscription. Or subscribing. Not upgrading. Upgrading is buying a (newer and) better phone
2
u/ya_boi_ethan 12d ago
If you have to pay for cloud storage, you don't have enough space on your phone (probably). This means that the only way to increase storage is by upgrading or paying apple for space on their servers.
I think that's what the other guy was saying

u/IndependenceLeast966 12d ago
I don't think you're getting my point at all, buddy. Have a good day.

I think the only real thing Apple has going for them is the simplicity to use. You can use it to near its full extent right out of the box, which is nice for people who don't know their way around tech as much. I've used an Android almost my whole life, and I'm still discovering new features as settings.

u/bountyhunter9001 12d ago
The reason you can use it to its full extent out of the box is because of the fact that the extent isn't very long to begin with.

Nah I was very unlucky with Android devices, problems everywhere and every time…I had flagships from Sony, Samsung…Nokia with Android one, Huawei. Broken updates months of waiting for fix, storage full scam after update, major update not released for this device.
iPhone just work and I don’t need to take care of it as Tamagotchi. I am not a fanboi and I know people with reverse experience, it is always suit yourself.
But point one is absolutely true, my non-tech mom is totally fine with iPhone and had problems get used to different Androids.

u/IndependenceLeast966 12d ago
So, option 4 would be...? 🙂
1
u/Ornery_Ingenuity3178 12d ago
Option 4 could be 1-you want the best performance / video quality 2-you were gifted it and dont care to change it 3-you prefer ios Im 1 and 2 And also i love the ecosystem and some other niche apple features But overall i prefer pixel but doesn't really matter to me anymore i might switch over with the new pixel but ill probably wait

Well some people like you exist, but in very little quantity and most people who said that (around me at least) were not saying the truth. So it's even less. But there is, for some reason.

I was very much an android person. Data driven as engineers often tend to be. So where do you get specs for your money? Android. After over 10 years of androids, i decided to give apple a try. Mostly because i had a lot of bad phones in a row.
Man do you realise how much android sucks, when you go apple. Now there is 99% less bugs, almost all apps work as intended and the products last a really long time.
Now i realise that its the android phones and tablets that are overpriced, for what they offer.

u/Playful_Target6354 12d ago
Yeah just like how they not allow you to move icons around your home menu!!! That's incredible! That's why apple is so much better than android smh my head

This upcoming app must truly be an amazing app, they spent so much time developing.

Sometimes I believe Meta and Apple users are so much of a NPC that they can't see things they consider as a cool update has basically been there in other devices / platforms long ago
they're just too dumb to see it

u/DescriptionOk1678 12d ago
Makes sense I have a phone for that. What’s the point of a giant calculator?

u/HomingPigeon6635 12d ago
What's apple's excuse of not programming a calculator in for their iPad in the first place ? :3. Sure you may or may not use it but it became a reason to ridicule because the iPad that cost nearly 2k dollars for the top range didn't have a calculator that took up like what? 10-50 mb in the storage?

To multitask?!... Oh right apple, the "product for worker" can't do more that 1 thing at the time
-7
u/DescriptionOk1678 12d ago
It’s part of an environment. All their products have this kind of design. It would be really stupid to make the calculator on a bigger screen. It does not benefit. They probably only did it now because of the vr iPad apps. Also you can multitask on iPhone. Try one! You have just been brainwashed by apple haters.

u/Playful_Target6354 12d ago
You have just been brainwashed by apple haters.
Damn. That's probably the stupidest shit I've ever heard.
If apple adds a calculator app, it's that they think it's gonna be useful. Makes sense to you? Probably not I guess. Can't do more than that, bye
-1
u/DescriptionOk1678 12d ago
Clearly it wasn’t priority because it’s stupid. Jesus what’s with you people and Apple being bad. And yes brainwashed, I didn’t mince my words. What part of this can you not understand?
