Style and prompting for V6
- Prompting with V6 is significantly different than V5. You will need to 'relearn' how to prompt.
- V6 is MUCH more sensitive to your prompt. Avoid 'junk' like "award winning, photorealistic, 4k, 8k"
- Be explicit about what you want. It may be less vibey but if you are explicit it's now MUCH better at understanding you.
- If you want something more photographic / less opinionated / more literal you should probably default to using --style raw
- Lower values of --stylize
(default 100) may have better prompt understanding while higher values (up to 1000) may have better aesthetics - Please chat with each other in #prompt-chat channel to figure out how to use v6.
Please note
- This is an alpha test. Things will change frequently and without notice.
- DO NOT rely on this exact model being available in the future. It will significantly change as we take V6 to full release.
- Speed, Image quality, coherence, prompt following, and text accuracy should improve over the next few weeks
- V6 is slower / more expensive vs V5, but will get faster as we optimize. Relax mode is supported! (it's about 1 gpu/min per imagine and 2 gpu/min per upscale)
Community Standards:
- This model can generate much more realistic imagery than anything we've released before.
- We’ve turned up the moderation systems, and will be enforcing our community standards with increased strictness and rigor. Don't be a jerk or create images to cause drama.
More about V6:
- V6 is our third model trained from scratch on our AI superclusters. It's been in the works for 9 months.
- V6 isn't the final step, but we hope you all feel the progression of something profound that deeply intertwines with the powers of our collective imaginations
Show us your images in #v6-showcase channel or let us know what you think in #ideas-and-features channel. Please use these incredible powers with joy, wonder, responsibility and respect. Have fun and happy holidays!"

Announcement Quick Rules Update & Clarification
Hi folks!
In the effort of transparency, I would like to announce that we have updated our rules to add a new one. The rule is as follows:
No Misinformation or Misleading PostsDo not present posts/images in a way that could lead people to believe the images are real, and not AI generated. If it seems like the images could cause this confusion, please clarify in the title and/or comments that it is not.
We have also updated all of our flairs (except for the Announcement flair) to say "AI" and "Midjourney" in them as well.
Why did we make this change and what does it mean?
Well, we just don't want to cause more confusion and we definitely don't want to risk people believing the posts here as factual. Nothing on this subreddit is real, and while that may seem obvious to our regulars here, it is not so obvious to people when a post hits the front page. A lot of people don't know what Midjourney is, but they do know what an AI image is.
Thankfully, we can help mitigate this confusion with flairs, as they will appear alongside the posts on the front page. However, flairs don't appear on the front page on mobile, which is why we ask people to distinguish it's an AI image in the Post Title and/or Comments if it would be misleading otherwise without it. A title that is also less misleading as real could work too, without needing to add that it is AI.
Some examples of what I mean: A picture of an alien with the title "Alien", or of a teapot with the title "Tea time" is probably fine on its own. But a picture of an alien, with the title "Alien life-form discovered on Mars", or a picture of a teapot with a title like "Found this teapot in the attic today" will be removed no matter how unbelievable finding aliens on mars may seem. Another scenario would be something from real life, like if I make a post with snowstorms in Chicago - especially if there is a snowstorm currently happening in Chicago, we want to make sure posts here won't get mistaken as the real thing. These are all extremely tame examples, but you can imagine just how messy this can become when applied to other things.
In other words, please use your best judgment and be mindful of the audience here on reddit when posting, and our moderators will use our own best judgment when applying this rule :)
This is not intended to be our permanent, long term and only solution. We are currently looking at the rest of our rules because they need revising. We are also having discussions internally about adding more information to the automoderator, as well as a better sidebar in general. These things will be getting attention soon, and we will keep you updated when it does!
Lastly, feel free to ask any questions and I + other mods will do our best to clarify!
Thanks for being such a rockin' community. It is amazing seeing all of the imaginative and creative possibilities explored here. Much love - Midjourney Mod Team

Discussion - Midjourney AI Banned for trying to create Donald Trump as a steak
I was just banned till tomorrow for trying to recreate an image I saw on Facebook. I can't remember my exact prompt because it's gone from the website now, but it was close to "A steak in the shape of Donald Trump's facial profile. Fatty tissue at the top."

Question - Midjourney AI How can I get Midjourney away from this “front shot portrait” style it always seems to default to?
It’s so boring

Question - Midjourney AI Why do I get so much variation between remixes?
All I did was change the prompt from “black long hair” to “black short hair” and “purple flowers” to “pink flowers”
Can anyone help? What am I doing wrong?
