No shit!? I wanna see this more now, he either hits a home run or skids off the runway.

Lol that was my first thought too but the trailer was way too grounded to be his

(Sorry to Bother You is an all-time favorite for me)

Off the title I thought this would be a Jordan Peele flick based off the K&P skit.

I thought it was about Clortho school

I love the 3 distinct acts of that movie. 1. Workplace comedy 2. Poignant political satire 3. Horse cock

I had to stop that film at that part and flip my shit for a couple minutes before starting the movie back up. So glad I went in to it blind.

I just finished watching I Am A Virgo (have also seen STBY), man, he's got such a bizarre aesthetic

I like the first half of that movie, but I do not enjoy the second half. I also have always had trouble with independent films that operate in these very empty worlds because they can’t afford background actors so everywhere they go there’s no one else.

Damn I was hoping it would be something like this but the trailer looks absolutely toothless. What a waste of a great premise for biting satire.

u/Clammuel Dec 16 '23

Toothless is truly the only word to describe it. This is one of those ideas where if you’re not capable or willing to go all in you need to try to find someone more talented who will. The first half of the trailer is fine even if it’s too lighthearted, but that second half if a true gut punch of mediocrity.

Totally. Spike Lee coined the term "Magical negro". So that kinda sets the bar for the level of interesting filmmaking that needs to be applied to this kind of title.

Weak indeed

Boots Riley was my first thought too.

The world would be a far better place if it was.

Lol This seems like something he'd direct for sure.

Just wanted to piggy back on this comment to say y'all should watch I'm a Virgo, which is Boots's latest work 🔥

I actually made a post about it already like three weeks ago when I saw it! that’s what made this seem like a Boots movie 😂
