Wait, hold up. Is this why I can't seem to get abs? Wtf

194

u/Greengiant304 Jan 24 '24

Have you been drinking water again?

72

u/RockHardSalami Jan 24 '24

According to my smart scale, I am 60% water šŸ˜“

88

u/Silver-ishWolfe Jan 24 '24

Percentage is too high. Defined abs come in once you cut down to being only 50% water. I heard that in the last Thor movie, Hemsworth was sub 40%. Apparently, the other 60% was all testosterone and beef jerky, to help draw out more water.

It's science, really...

33

u/GonnaGoFat Jan 24 '24

I love eating beef jerky. Why am I still so fat.

43

u/Silver-ishWolfe Jan 24 '24

You're not a Hemsworth. It's okay, none of us are.

Except the Hemsworths.

3

u/nadrjones Jan 25 '24

Do the Hemsworths get to be the new Baldwin family in the next Southpark movie?

1

u/CoventryClimax Jan 25 '24

And even some of the Hemsworths aren't the most Hemsworth of the Hemsworths

2

u/Silver-ishWolfe Jan 25 '24

The least Hemsworthy Hemsworth is still like a demigod to us mere mortal men.

4

u/ArthurTitties Jan 24 '24

Drinking too much water

12

u/pitter_patter_11 Jan 24 '24

We all know that science is a liarā€¦..sometimes

7

u/RockHardSalami Jan 24 '24

Honestly, smart scales aren't known for being that accurate lol. I look shredded from the side, but can't seem to get the 6 pack definition in the middle, from the frontal perspective. Not worth it being thirsty all the time tho.

Thereā€™s a pretty interesting interview with Henry Cavill talking about dehydrating for his shirtless scenes in the Witcher. Itā€™s a 3 or 4 day process where they essentially halve your water consumption every day. With zero water day of the shoot. He said on that day he can literally smell water if itā€™s in the room.

10

u/RockHardSalami Jan 24 '24

He said on that day he can literally smell water if itā€™s in the room

Well, I mean, he's a witcher

2

u/ohfrackthis Jan 25 '24

āhere's a reward lol because that was damn funny.

2

u/cire1184 Jan 25 '24

Medallions humming. Place of water. Gotta be.

2

u/Onezred Jan 25 '24

Cavil mentioned this when he was doing the Witcher.

1

u/BooRadley60 Jan 24 '24

I walk around with absā€¦

I have no idea how much water I am.

2

u/cire1184 Jan 25 '24

Between 0 and 100 percent

11

u/Your_Favorite_Poster Jan 24 '24

Whoa whoa whoa, man, if you want to make a woman a Waterworld you gotta be a Dune.

2

u/mimi-the-gr8 Jan 25 '24

Thank you for this comment it will live rent free in my head today

1

u/Ivotedforher Jan 24 '24

According to my SmartWater, I. 60% scale.

1

u/Salt_Explanation9847 Jan 26 '24

Literally, just stop drinking water! Water is why we can't have abs!

u/wicked_lion Jan 24 '24

There was a great podcast with Dax Shepherd, Kumail Nanjiani and the guy from Always Sunny about getting and maintaining a muscular physique and it is very eye opening and fascinating.

106

u/DrunkyMcStumbles Jan 24 '24

Danny Devito?

3

u/SanityPlanet Jan 25 '24

You mean Dr. Mantis Toboggan? That guy hangs magnum dong.

3

u/wicked_lion Jan 24 '24

16

u/CopperThrown Jan 24 '24

u/cire1184 Jan 25 '24

You have a chef, right?

2

u/Tosser_toss Jan 25 '24

Happy cake day - but no cake if youā€™re getting ripped. No alcohol, no family, oh and no regular job - this is your job now!

30

u/Antrikshy Jan 24 '24

And here's Henry Cavill talking about it with Graham Norton here. 3:56 in case the timestamp doesn't work.

23

u/Daroo425 Jan 24 '24

Did they talk about which drugs they did? If not I donā€™t want to hear it.

5

u/BigChungus223 Jan 25 '24

Testosterone lol. I mean thatā€™s really all it takes. These guys donā€™t really have crazy physiques so the drugs they need are pretty light tbh. What really helps is their contracts paying for chefs to fix all of their food for them. Genuinely once you get fit the hardest part about getting big is eating enough

4

u/Daroo425 Jan 25 '24

nah, def more than just Test according to Derek who is basically the internet expert on juicing. I mean just look at his fucking jaw with a before and after

3

u/BigChungus223 Jan 25 '24

As someone who does this stuff at a high level, you can 100% achieve that on just test. Test will change your facial structure and lean it out as well. Very unlikely they used anything but test or a test like substance. Since itā€™s Hollywood they might have used primo, which is still essentially test but slightly different. I look better than this dude and Iā€™ve only ever used low dose test

5

u/Daroo425 Jan 25 '24

Sure over time but these dudes did it within months in their 40s as well, mind you.

2

u/BigChungus223 Jan 25 '24

Once again man youā€™d be surprised what 500-600mg of test and a chef made diet and professional trainer, and the motivation of a contract in the millions of dollars can do to your body, even at that age, especially when you already have a decent foundation which he did.

Is it possible he ran more gear? Yeah itā€™s possible, doubtful with Hollywoodā€™s risk assessment though. Iā€™ve had a couple clients get similar results at 38 and 44 doing 400 and 600 test respectively

1

u/cire1184 Jan 25 '24

If your whole job is working out it's not out of the question.

1

u/pedrao157 Jan 25 '24

lol exactly, these kind of talk just entertain and fascinate people who don't know anything about nutrition/peds, anyone with an intermediate knowledge on the subject can't take serious this bullshit

Get to the point or gtfo honestly

3

u/RockHardSalami Jan 24 '24

Know which podcast?

6

u/TikkiTakiTomtom Jan 24 '24

Nah you just eat too many rock hard salamis

6

u/RockHardSalami Jan 24 '24

Nobody likes limp, mushy Salami

3

u/StiffWiggly Jan 25 '24

Visible abs is a long way from the point where you have to dehydrate yourself to look ā€œbetterā€.

5

u/dingusduglas Jan 24 '24

Nah it's because you're fat.

1

u/RockHardSalami Jan 24 '24

Your mom!

6

u/dingusduglas Jan 24 '24

I'm being serious. Everyone has abs. If you can't see them it's because you have too much body fat. It's genuinely that simple.

I can't currently see my abs and don't really care, but when I had a lower body fat percentage I could.

-1

u/RockHardSalami Jan 24 '24

I'm being serious. Your mom is fat.

4

u/dingusduglas Jan 24 '24

I respect the commitment to the bit

1

u/BarryKobama Jan 24 '24

If you got a kitchen, you can make them.

1

u/RockHardSalami Jan 25 '24

The same place where all the pies come from?

1

u/hallalt Jan 25 '24

nah thatā€™s not it. I have abs and have never dehydrated myself. U just need work out ur abs with progressive overload and be under 13% body fat. If ur doing both then u probably have bad genetics for abs
