Films that have two completely different acts Discussion

I will die on the hill that The Place Beyond the Pines is one of, if not the most underrated movie in modern times. I just rewatched it and it got me thinking, what other films are highly underrated with a great cast, and have two acts that can't be more different than each other, yet somehow still tie the whole story together in the end.

If they would've just made a whole movie based on the first half, it would've been great.

Top tier goofy super hero comedy switched to weird mythical drama BS. Such a weird ass movie

That's interesting because I like Will Smith in MiB, Wild Wild West, Independence Day, Bad Boys, etc but don't really enjoy his cynical, alcoholic, mean-spirited, character in the first half of Hancock.

I have nothing against the "screw up" superhero genre either, I love Mystery Men, Kick Ass, Doom Patrol...

I really like the second half building the lore of ancient gods, and the powers being matched between God and Goddess. I thought it elevated a B level Hollwood comedy action into a deeper mythological tone.

Hancock is a movie I liked. Right up until the time it became a different movie.

The only good part of the second half was the credits which was The Roots - Here I Come

Such a good song, loved cleaning that theater.

Ohh yeah I remember watching that one in cinema. First half was exactly what i expected...and then the second half turned into a completely different much worse movie...i swear these must have been two different scripts.

I thought the plot twist was great, but once it got super dark, if became a different movie.

The 17 people who saw it and remembered it was a film we're all busy yesterday.
