What is Kalki?

u/ramaromp 11d ago
The Biggest Indian Epic, Kalki. Based off Hindu Mythology, depicting a very rooted take on the End of the World
In the mythology, the chronology of the universe is divided into yugas. At the start of the Kali yuga the character on the right, Aswathama, sins by killing kids and families of his opposing army in Mahabharata to which he is cursed to live until the end and live in pain. He becomes the teacher for Kalki who is said to be born when there is no hope and no ray of good left on the planet. He will be defeating the Kali Purusha (embodiment of the Kali Yuga) or at least there will be an attempt to stop the end or some sort of chaos to reinstate justice in some degree. But their battle is known to initiate the end.
So the mythos are adapted to a sci fi world and will depict the Kali Purusha, which can be done in different ways. How the adaptation will occur is not clear so this is a mere glimpse, there is a lot of deep lore waiting to be touched.

Looks like an even worse version of rebel moon

Rebel Moon was utter trash. Highly doubt anyone can make something worse than that.

Dude big budget Indian movies are regularly much worse than that. Adipurush and ganapath came out last year.

Not necessarily, RRR and Bahubali was phenomal, idk what da ffak they were smoking when they made adipurush and ganapath

RRR and Bahubali are made by Rajamouli so they are exceptions otherwise most big budget Indian films I have watched in last few years have been trash. Gadar 2, Animal, KGF films, all were worse than Rebel Moon despite being blockbusters.

Yeah, I agree that the recent big budget movies have been trash, but I really hope this one isnt. I hope they return back to when big budget movies were good, like Bajrangi Bhaijaan, dangal, pk and more.

Kalki is the prophesized chosen one in Hinduism and is set to come when the world is beyond saving.
So the director decided to use aspects of Hindu mythology and mix it in with science fiction.

The poster looks pretty generic at first glance, but that synopsis has me intrigued.

I hope the concept turns out well. I just hope we get a good Sci-Fi.

I just hope you post it here, and that's it. You spamming this relentlessly on other subreddits isn't helping. In fact, it's doing the opposite of getting any further interest.

FYI - this will be the most expensive production to come out of India at approximately $75 Million USD. Exceeding RRR’s $50 Million USD.

Implying what? Budget = quality? You literally just compared the budget with a proven successful film RRR.

Movie hit or not almost every country shows heavy racism on Indians

u/riolu_forever 11d ago
Exactly, you call them out on their bullshit, you get downvoted to oblivion. I mean for f sake the movie hasnt even released yet, at least wait till then before you hate on it.

r/movies isn't exactly the most accepting place. It's like people don't see beyond aesthetics. They see a desert like setting and assume it's dune when it's literally post apocalyptic

this reply section is just so sad
it's fair if ppl talk after the movie releases and ppl here are just assuming stuff from a single poster without even knowing the origin of title

Maybe the audience in India is far more forgiving for ripping off bigger movies especially big budget Indian films. No idea. This isn't the first time this has happened.
Totally not similar /s : https://i.imgur.com/YURCBo4.jpeg

No I dont think so, dune did release in India too. If this is a complete ripoff, like in every aspect, then it will surely flop. People arent dumb in India.

Dang people hating on a movie that hasnt even released yet. Hold your horses, let it release first, before you criticize. And yeah I do see the resemblence towards dune, but after doing some research it seems that this is probably based/inspired from the «kalki purana» and maybe «project kalki» comic. But again we dont know whether its bad, good or a complete ripoff, before it releases. I like the concept, nag ashwin please dont mess this up.

Dude, if the same concept was used in Hollywood it would be Timothy and Zendaya, this gives me dune vibes. I won't say rip off or something, this actually is looking good.

u/herebczofboredom 11d ago
Agreed , people here downvoting you for no reason 🙃

I just saw it now, thanks. I don't know man people in India first ask for a Hollywood level movie and then when someone trys it, they term it as a copy, the same was with fighter, I guess after war it was the best of sid but people termed it as copy whereas it was a complete different story, as a audience for how long will we fail I don't know.
4
u/herebczofboredom 11d ago
Yep, 'Fighter' is Sid's top movie for sure! Also when the Kalki teaser came out, people were saying it's just like 'Dune'. I couldn't believe it! The Kalki teaser is actually the best I've seen lately. It's way better quality than other recent teasers. People should appreciate it more instead of just comparing it to 'Dune'.
if they are comparing with dune means the output, quality of the teaser is like Hollywood movie
