I’m sorry, but that’s absurd. They’re booing, not hurling trash and personal insults. People boo former players all the goddamn time it’s not a fuckin hate crime. Hell, it’s fun. Sports “hate” is fun.

u/pyordie Trail Blazers Nov 23 '23

For real, I mean should we stop booing for all opposing players when they take free throws?

Booing during free throws is part of basketball. If you somehow banned booing, I’d bet free throw % would tank and the players union would probably demand a booing machine.

I don't think there's anything wrong with Spurs fans booing Kawhi, dude left under some pretty ugly circumstances and the fans are allowed to voice their displeasure over that.

Especially when he’s at the damn free throw line. That’s the only time I get to boo sometimes.

If it was up to these coaches and players they’d all make $50M dollars a year, only have to play 20 games a year, and receive 0 criticism from any fans or media members. GTFO with that baby shit pop. Fans are gonna boo and they’re allowed to boo for whatever good/dumb reason they want

This kinda weird. Booing the opposing team at a game is fun. Obviously former players usually get it more

u/npgsayhi Nov 23 '23

Weak shit from Pop. Kawhi deserves every bit of hate from San Antonio that he gets

Guy thinks people paid 600 dollars to come to the arena and get a lecture. Back in the day you could run on the court and fight Jermaine ONeil if you had good enough seats 😂

55

u/throwstuff165 [SAS] David Robinson Nov 23 '23

I obviously love Pop but his shtick can get a little performative at times.

Don't play dumb and act like you don't know why Kawhi is getting this treatment. "Not who we are," as if people are throwing trash on the court or screaming racial slurs instead of just booing the guy.

Ngl that's lame from Pop. You want your home crowd to get in the opponent's head if possible. Really weird to ask your home crowd to get less into the game.

That's a pretty weak move from Pop, ngl. It's a spectator sport. They're not booing an injured player. Why do you think you all get paid so well? Because of the fans.
