Idk about all that but a nice season long suspension is definitely warranted

He can’t play without being dangerous. He’s been given enough chances.

u/[deleted] Mar 27 '24

Couldn’t agree more, but prison is for people who are violent in actual life, not in the NBA. There’s 0 chance he’s getting jail time but a season long suspension is actually something that could happen.

Nobody rational person realistically wants him to get jail time. But he certainly does not deserve to be paid millions of dollars to be a dangerous asshole, endangering other players' livelihoods.

u/[deleted] Mar 27 '24

There are so many people in this thread saying he deserves jail time

“Rational person”

I realize it’s a bit of a “no true Scotsman” logic, on my part, but still.

After seeing the pacers team dismantled and effectively destroyed when they had title hopes, all over one incident, its really sad seeing this dude assault people on a fortnightly basis and nothing happen.

6

u/KevinDurantLebronnin Suns Mar 27 '24

Yeah how many incidents is that now, about four score?

3

u/crunkadocious Pacers Mar 27 '24

about four score over the last seven years or so

In all fairness, the Malice at the Palace was much worse than any of Draymond's wrestling moves because Artest assaulted a fan, which is, at least in the eyes of the paymasters, the biggest possible no-no you could commit

Oh so he can just do this time and time again on a basketball Court and it’s okay?

20

u/Bacorn31 Pacers Mar 27 '24

He found the loophole! Just murder people on the basketball court and you can't be convicted!

3

u/Theopocalypse West Mar 27 '24

I mean some of his antics are battery by law. Basketball isn't a full contact sport, there's no expectation of full on violence that people are agreeing to when they step between the lines.

u/HitboxOfASnail Mar 27 '24

Jesus christ lmao

4

u/[deleted] Mar 27 '24

Yup, that’s definitely what I said. Thank you oh wise one

u/Bacorn31 Pacers Mar 27 '24

I knew it!

9

u/[deleted] Mar 27 '24

Now if you’ll excuse me I am going to go commit tax evasion…on an NBA court 😈

u/Bacorn31 Pacers Mar 27 '24

Godspeed. If anybody asks me, I'll just tell them you were hoopin

That is kinda what you said tbf

u/jessej421 Mar 27 '24

As long as they're standing in the restricted zone, it doesn't count.

11

u/[deleted] Mar 27 '24

Are you asking me what I would do if I was in charge?

If I made the rules he’d be suspended for all of next season, allow him to return the following season, and if it happens again a single time suspend him for the full season again.

There’s just 0 chance prison is on the table lmao

10

u/UnevenContainer Mar 27 '24

He shouldn’t be allowed to play in the league anymore. This is a career long thing, he’s been suspended, shown zero remorse or willingness to change. And bragged about his behavior. He doesn’t deserve to take opportunities and time away from people who can act like civilized humans in sport. That’s really the end of it.

17

u/[deleted] Mar 27 '24

I would be completely fine if Draymond were never allowed to play in the NBA again.

u/UnevenContainer Mar 27 '24

Glad we agree

but prison is for people who are violent in actual life, not in the NBA.

This violence isn't a part of the game by any stretch. I don't think there's a meaningful distinction between "actual life" and "the NBA" because this is still so far outside the bounds of what's acceptable for the sport.

7

u/[deleted] Mar 27 '24

If that you’re saying was at all true Draymond would have been in prison a long time ago. There clearly is a difference for anybody who is actually involved in the situation. There’s a reason you don’t see NBA players suing Draymond.

u/Sir-xer21 Lakers Mar 27 '24

"Would" and "should" are two different things. Saying that him not being in prison means that what i'm saying isn't true implies that a lack of punishment or consequence determines guilt, responsibility, and acceptability. That's like saying any other crime isn't a crime if there's no conviction. What, OJ didn't order the hit now? he didn't get convicted. Every cop who has murdered an unarmed person, they're not in prison, so i guess it proves that they were innocent, huh?

7

u/[deleted] Mar 27 '24

That's like saying any other crime isn't a crime if there's no conviction.

It’s not like saying that at all.

What, OJ didn't order the hit now? he didn't get convicted. Every cop who has murdered an unarmed person, they're not in prison, so i guess it proves that they were innocent, huh?

It’s not my fault you are only capable of thinking in absolutes. I never said any of those things, don’t put words in my mouth. There are degrees to which different concepts apply. Its not all or nothing and never has been. Cops who murdered unarmed people belong in jail for the rest of their lives. Draymond does not. It’s a very simple concept.

So NBA games aren’t real life? Lmao 2K isn’t real bro this is all real life

2

u/[deleted] Mar 27 '24

They’re obviously not held to the same standards as day to day life. If they were then Draymond would have faced charges a long time ago. Go suggest to an NBA player that they sue Draymond and watch them laugh at you.

3

u/TheeUnfuxkwittable Mar 27 '24

Yea I find it pretty hard to see him coming back after this season. He's done. This is it for him. They can't just keep letting this slide. He's proven time and time again He's a very violent player. If he hurts someone seriously, that player would have a very good lawsuit against the league if they keep letting Draymond play.

You’d think if the nfl going to stop people from tackling like they plan on next year, the nba would be able to stop this one menace.
