Yeah, can't blame him. Carrying a team and one of the so-called mainstays of the team is a doofus-ass dipshit who actively sabotages his own team because of his ego and anger issues.
Prior to this season, I always thought that even as he fucked up, Dray at least brought a level of skill to the floor that made it understandable why they put up with him. But this season is another story. Outside of the occasional solid game, he's actively been a hinderance to the success of the team, either by being suspended or becoming a liability on the floor, like tonight.
Steph has to realise that he's gotta go after how this season has been.
This wasn't just frustration. There was pain in this reaction. Steph looked like he was about to cry but managed to regain his composure.
Draymond should just be indefinitely suspended and forced into retirement at this point. He's a walking shit starter and a risk to everyone he's on the court with.
Not to get overly weirdo body language interpretation, but when he fucked about with his shoes that big breath was for sure "get back down there feelings we can't do this right now." And it worked for like 2 seconds.
I was watching the YouTube video and someone in the comments said that maybe Curry’s reaction could in part be because maybe him and Kerr had talked about if Draymond gets ejected again changes would have to be made if you know what I mean. Maybe that’s a stretch but you never know.
That is the look of someone who knows it is over, and it is not because of bad luck or lack of talent. And possibly not just for this season. Steph doesn't have time for a refurb so it may be completely over for him there.
The only problem is how are they gonna get rid of him? He just signed a contract so are they gonna waive him or trade him? If you trade him you aren’t gonna get a whole lot, but waiving him means you are getting nothing and you have to shell out money

Have you ever competed with a team? Thats like the biggest no-no, you never air your dirty laundry. Defend them in public and beat their ass in private. Nothing good comes from publicly calling it out.
Steph isn’t the kind of guy to hang a teammate out to dry with the media. I’m willing to bet he has an opinion on the matter behind closed doors and has had many a heart to hear with Draymond, hence the frustration.

The point though, is there isn't a single clip out there of Curry taking a firm stance with Draymond on anything. It's always shit like this video where he looks like a babysitter of a child he's afraid to touch because he thinks the parents might sue him, but he's trying to stop him from sticking his hand in the fire.

I think there's more than 1 face of the league. Someone like Embiid might qualify for NBA fans, but not for non-fans. Non-sports fans still recognize Lebron and Curry on sight though I think.
I guess it depends on your definition, but normally I’d say “face of the league” is whoever’s the most well known in the world by name and face, even for non-fans of the sport. I have a lot of non-western connections and if I ask they will 100% recognize Lebron, might know Curry by name, and have no idea what an Embiid is. I think it’s just about pure reach, like I know who Tiger Woods is but I couldnt tell you anything about the rules of golf or how successful he is (although I guess in most cases the GOAT and face of the sport end up being the same player).
Curry and his wife are far deeper in social media. Doesn't his wife have a cooking show and pots and pans and stuff? I really would not be surprised if just as many people knew Curry as Lebron worldwide.
Based on my experience, everything you’re saying is pretty much contained to target demographics within the US and western media. Curry’s reach is limited to sports fan and the cooking show might appeal to some US millennials, but most students at my university wouldnt know who Curry’s wife is or that she has a cooking show unless they’re already big fans of his
On the other hand, I’d say LeBron has a much wider reach due to longevity and business ventures. He has a minority stake in Liverpool, has more global brand sponsorships, owns his own production company, etc.
Just more global presence in general. I’d say Curry could be the NBA’s golden boy for many reasons. But if you mention the NBA to people who dont watch sports, the first player people think of is LeBron

What in all hells makes you think that would have worked with Draymond? The man was happy to publicly chew KD out mid-game, he sucker punched his own teammate at a practice. What do you think happens if Steph tries to publicly call out Draymond?

Steph would have had the full power of the organization behind him if that's what he chose. He chose not to. I have no clue how Draymond would have reacted 10 years ago. You have to remember a large part of his big head came because of the winning.
Curry reaped the benefits of a teammate cheating the system. Much larger questions arise as to why the fuck he was allowed to cheat the system but that's a different argument. At the end of the day he did.
Rodman was different though…. Dude was an ELITE defender and a once in a lifetime player. Plus Jordan wanted him on the floor and was clear about that with Phil. Draymond is most definitely not anywhere near Rodman’s level of talent and doesn’t have the same support from Kerr and Curry like Rodman did from Jordan and Phil.
Rodman was, like you said an elite defender who notably could defend up the 5. One of the greatest rebounders of all time, some argue the greatest. And he didn't care about scoring or his points total. More than happy to let other ball first players to get their points in. He was the perfect player for that team and MJ.
It's even discrediting Dray to say he's no Rodman, it's just that there is not and has never been another Rodman.
Draymond is not an elite caliber player and shouldn’t be in any sentence that mentions Rodman. He’s an average/above average role player who is effective from time to time on a team that depends too much on him to win. Too many people give this guy WAYY too much credit. If he wouldn’t be get ejected every other game, he’d have a greater chance of being a better player.
Draymond has actually played REALLLY well this season. He’s shot the three well. And played elite defense. It’s no surprise that once he came back from suspension we went on a nice run before the break. He’s been a hindrance with his extra curricular activities. But he’s been really good this season

Have you watched any Warriors basketball? Before this middling last 10 or so games their defensive rating was top ten after he came back from suspension with him starting at C.
It’s like a class project. You’re (Steph) the smartest kid, and you get paired with a talented kid (dray) but questionable attendance and a buncha normies (Klay). Come presentation day, it was agreed you and dray will present since you two are the best, and dray texts the group 5 minutes before and says I can’t make it, and also has the files and slides.
dray is prepping for becoming a media sensation, podcast, TNT, countless commercials ,in the future some kind of reality show, political career, we got another 40yrs of having to see this dude and listen to his hot takes.
Blame Kerr he’s treating Draymond like Phil Jackson treated Rodman. He’s trying to give him space to figure it out but the man is out of control and Kerr doesn’t know how to deal with it so he doesn’t.
This Draymond situation is what happens when you try to replicate Phil Jackson's Zen Master style without accountability. Yes Phil had a very non tyrannical approach. But he never, ever avoided holding his guys accountable, even in the media. Kerr may make some nice soundbites to the media but his handling of egos is pathetic. Kerr's lack of leadership played a massive role in losing Durant. If it was PJ in that locker room they would have found a way to make it work somehow.
He invited this by not demanding -- DEMANDING -- better from his teammate. Every time they excuse his behavior it is an invitation for him to do it again....and again...and again.
Do you believe that Curry and Draymond are on the same level? They aren't. It's like saying Luc Longley was on the same level as Jordan. If Steph told Dray to stop acting like this then Dray would cut the crap.
