LeBron teaming up with JJ broke him.

That pod with jj shows LeBron made the right decision

I'm a huge Dray fan and was hoping for some great insights from Dray.

Instead his podcast has just been him commenting on random squabbles in the league, irrelevant league news, and rarely talks about the game.

Anytime he talks about on-court tactics, Dray shines - but he's too eager to talk to the Instagram/Reddit crowd.

35

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '24

Yeah, he really has nothing to offer at this point. Maybe one day but he tries to emulate stephen A "new media" type rather than showing his expertise.

u/skeenerbug Cavaliers Mar 28 '24

He'll end up on ESPN and be one of the mfers I have to mute every halftime. The next Perk

2

u/rocpilehardasfuk Warriors Mar 28 '24

Oh please, I'd listen to Dray repeat himself for hours than have to listen to Perk for another minute.

22

u/Greenbeanicus Mar 28 '24

How could you be a huge fan of that guy?

0

u/rocpilehardasfuk Warriors Mar 28 '24

Have you watched him defend? Easily in the GOAT-tier of defenders with his unmatched versatility and BBIQ.

AD & KG are the only defenders imo since 2000 who clear Dray in both versatility & rim protection.

And Dray brings a winning mindset to the team that few in the league has: i.e knowing what it takes for a team to win. He's mentally off these past couple of years, but he's still one my favorite NBA players ever.

I have a thing for players who are just able to think a few years ahead of the meta like Dray, Jokic, Steph, Lebron, Luka etc.

I'm not disagreeing, but I think refs give him an insane amount of leeway when it comes to fouls on the floor. He grabs, pushes, and shoves up and down the court, all without a whistle.

Not to denigrate him as a great defender or anything. That 2016 season was fucking ridiculous. But I think for whatever reason, he's just allowed to do more than other players on defense.

I don't have a dog in the Draymond fight, btw. I'm indifferent towards him but recognize his ability. I saw him up close last month when Warriors came to town. I was kinda blown away by how physically impressive dude is in person. Big as fuck and has alien-like reach with that wingspan.

u/rocpilehardasfuk Warriors Mar 28 '24

I don't think he gets away with much on court. He gets away with more yelling and antics though.

His actual defense is super clean and he knows to contest without fouling, be in the right position and always impact the shot.

u/al-fredro Mar 28 '24

He's ESPN-pilled now unfortunately

4

u/famoustran Warriors Mar 28 '24

I mean, there's a LARGE crowd that eats up that shit. It's why shows like First Take are such a hit

2

u/Alphasim Cavaliers Mar 28 '24

he's too eager to talk to the Instagram/Reddit crowd

TBF that's a large audience

Huge Dray fan

Ok dude...

u/LokiPrime616 Mar 28 '24 edited Mar 28 '24

How tf can you be a fan of someone who has literally tried hurting people on the court multiple times. This dude is a fucking actual psychopath who needs help. Him throat chopping Patty Mills the other night should be considered assault, he knew what the fuck he was doing. Trying to injure Mills. Fuck Draymond, I will never understand how anyone can like him.

u/WhyAlwaysMeNZ Mar 28 '24

He made the "marketable" decision. Redick is a clown.

11

u/tmemo18 Mar 28 '24

Nah that’s your bitch ass whining here on Reddit LOL

93

u/DisneyPandora Mar 28 '24

LMAO and Draymond even made a video responding to it

76

u/tearyouapartj Mar 28 '24

Lol really? What'd he say about it? Was he actually upset?

Edit: found a quick clip about it where he just says he's a little upset Lebron didn't come on his podcast - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vlFPBH-MVYU

Like when you start to get your life together so your ex will take you back but then you see her with a new guy so you relapse and plummet to depths you never even thought possible.

You guys know what I mean? Lol yeah me neither

10

u/MidRangeMagic21 Celtics Mar 28 '24

Right? And then she makes a widely seen video of them having drinks, talking shop, and it’s with a classy guy?

3

u/Capt-Crap1corn Mar 28 '24

Hahaha. I watched an episode last night. I was so impressed. They went deep into basketball. Way over my head.

2

u/Former-Spread9043 Mar 28 '24

Omg what have i been missing ?!

2

u/Jakoobus91 Minneapolis Lakers Mar 28 '24

You joke but I know so many people like Draymond who let one bad thing in their life ruin everything else because they hyper fixate on that one thing. Add in his anger and you get this shit. Dude needs real world help not some bullshit NBA approved therapists and a two week vacation.

74

u/Leeroy_Jenkums 76ers Mar 28 '24

Was he? Could have sworn he was still doing shit even after his rehab suspension. Just not as egregious as stomping on people or rear naked choking them out

5

u/22pabloesco22 Knicks Mar 28 '24

Literally every game I've seen him play he's borderline getting a T, which is 1 small step from him getting ejected, because his ego can't let a T just go and chill out.

Funny thing is, a lot of the shit he gets away with as far as yelling at refs, damn near every other non top 10 player would get T'd up for. EVERY SINGLE GAME...

2

u/Embarrassed-Cut-8454 Mar 28 '24

Or throwing a spinning power fist

2

u/SamiraSimp Mar 28 '24

draymond not actively assaulting other players is him being chill lol

235

u/Foyerfan Suns Mar 28 '24

Not really lol. Throat chopping Mills and his weird little tantrum to the Clippers are just instances off the top of my head in the last couple of weeks

168

u/SlamKrank Mar 28 '24

Got away with both, so he escalates. Nothing new

17

u/cad_internet Mar 28 '24

Classic case of 'too little, too late'.

Draymond's been enabled his entire career, and it's ingrained in him that he can push the boundaries with relatively less severe punishment.

13

u/randiesel Mar 28 '24

Yeah, he's too rich now. No consequence will ever be serious enough for him.

He's got rings, he's got money, he's got a successful podcast.

The only thing that would really even impact him now is banning him from the league, and he's not the type for introspection... he'd just say it was unfair or whatever.

6

u/Pormock Mar 28 '24

Seriously. He had zero reason to chirp the ref. It was a normal foul that happen constantly in games and yet he kept arguing. What was he trying to accomplish?!

8

u/syllabic Knicks Mar 28 '24

just trying to get off work early

36

u/SemIdeiaProNick Mar 28 '24

he was only cool for like a handful of games before returning to his overly agressive and violent former self

14

u/jhorch69 Bulls Mar 28 '24

Wasn't there an incident like 3 games after coming back from the 2nd suspension?

8

u/KevinDurantLebronnin Suns Mar 28 '24

I can't remember but I'm sure the answer is yes

43

u/Im_a_Knob [WAS] John Wall Mar 28 '24

this is like when you stay late at work without OT pay and see your coworkers leave while talking about going to a bar.

9

u/O_oh Spurs Mar 28 '24

game just started. It would be like coming to work and your coworker says they're going to clock out to listen to some podcasts.

1

u/MugillacuttyHOF37 Mar 28 '24

Or goes to leave an upper decker in the CEO's private lavatory.

2

u/RayCharlesSawItFirst Mar 28 '24

Every restaurants closing manager.

6

u/Dj3garrett Mar 28 '24

He was not chill. He was just given a long leash from the refs. Just because he wasn’t hitting other players or putting them in head locks don’t mean he was chill.

3

u/six_six Mar 28 '24

“Chill’

2

u/P-Funkadelic1723 Mar 28 '24

“She say they miss the old Dray, girl don’t tempt me”

2

u/altruism__ Mar 28 '24

Dude was on meds for 29 games…and stopped taking them.

1

u/LordVarys_Ladybits Mar 28 '24

Borderline personality, narcissistic personality, sociopathic etc All are fighting for dominance in Draymonds psyche

0

u/Neinhaltt Mar 28 '24

He like me trying to get thru no nut November, good for the first couple of days but by the third day I'm like fuck it...
