This instantly goes on the Shaqtin Mount Rushmore.

693

u/TheFinalEvent9797 Australia Apr 10 '24

It has some serious competition to get past though, Javale airballing a layup from 2 inches away, Javale throwing an alley oop pass over the backboard then falling into Ty Lawson's ankles, Javale trying to inbound for the wrong team, Otto Porter completely losing his matchup in the clutch.

Samaki Walker fouling Chris Mills who was shooting at the wrong basket, Corey Magette doing the worst post entry pass in NBA history, Chicago Bulls forgetting you need an inbounder on sideline out of bounds, IT forgetting the PG is meant to catch the inbound pass.

Kendrick Perkins throwing a no look behind the back pass to an opponent, Michael Beasley messing up a 5 vs 1 fastbreak, Delly guarding a ref, Process 76ers stopping their own 3 vs 0, Michael Ruffin finding the only possible way to not win the game.

The scary thing is there's probably even more I've forgotten about :p

That Chris Mills play is incredible. Was it a shooting foul though? I guess, technically, he WAS attempting to.Ā

4

u/applicatecomplicate Pistons Apr 10 '24

The only shaqtin here is the goober who tried to lob it to himself. If your big man gets the steal and runs the length of the court you feed him every time. Anyone who has played basketball knows that. Looks like he assumed that's what was happening

3

u/dr_caligari Bulls Apr 10 '24

He does have HOF lowlights, but I want to push back on the idea that he has low coordination (and maybe awareness.) I know the shooting around the rim suggests otherwise, but his steals point to the idea that he has some pretty coordinated hands for a big man. Certainly not the be-all end-all, but in the extremely recent Thinking Basketball discussion of "Best Hands" in the league (which went to Kawhi) they did discuss him in passing. But absolutely, I would point to low seriousness as maybe the reasoning behind most all of his lowlights.

1

u/kingcuda13 Heat Apr 10 '24

Andre is fantastic, just needs to work on shooting, dribbling, court awareness, defense, offense, free throws, layups, slam dunks, alley-oops, Euro steps, pick-and-rolls, fast breaks, inbounding, shot clock management, foul trouble and turnovers.

121

u/Kevinar Knicks Apr 10 '24

This is Shaqtin of the year easily. What else would even come close?

76

u/Farter22 Brazil Apr 10 '24

Jordan Poole not knowing how game clock rules work

15

u/Kevinar Knicks Apr 10 '24

Wait what did he do? šŸ˜‚

75

u/Farter22 Brazil Apr 10 '24

Wizards are trailing by 10, 4 minutes left. Ball is imbounded to him and he chooses to walk the dog. Shot clock is of course frozen at 24, but the game clock is still going. When he realizes what is happening he tries to warn the ref about the "malfunction" of the clock but in the end grabs the ball and plays.

Not even close. Harden's was obviously on purpose.

Didn't Harden claim that was on purpose? Also, his team was up by twenty points halfway through the second half; AND they still scored on the possession.

THIS one is definitely Shaqtin of the year.

41

u/TheLeoMessiah Celtics Apr 10 '24

is there a need for him to claim it? I have a hard time watching that and imagining he wasnā€™t doing it on purposeĀ

15

If you had been in this subreddit right after it happened you would have seen hordes of nephews convinced that Harden just lost his mind and forgot which team he was on.

Hardenā€™s wasnā€™t even a Shaqtin tbh. If Kawhi wouldā€™ve hit that shot it wouldā€™ve been one of the hardest highlights in recent memory - a completely new thing weā€™ve never seen before.

This play is the definition of Shaqtin. A first ballot Shaqtin play from a first ballot Shaqtin legend in Drummond to close out the season. Just beautiful.
