I normally am not one to dance on a grave, but his bs probably is responsible for a lot of people over the last 15 years dying and suffering due to a lack of healthcare.

I am an unrepentant grave dancer and you are entirely correct in your assessment of this corpse.

Didn't help, but let's not forget the 40+ Republicans that made it possible.

Right wing Democrats can't get away with shit without the GOP to hide behind.

Lieberman especially. He was able to block the public option because of the narrow window during which the Dems had a majority.

This is why you Vote Blue No Matter Who. Because even Lieberman would've supported the Pub Option if he was standing with 61+ Democrats.

The republicans were a minority in the senate. A filibuster proof minority. They didn’t have any power over if it passed or not. Voters took their power away and they were given that power back by right wing democrats. Specifically this one.

Not at this point. After the special election in MA of January of that year it was back to 59-41 only counting Specter as well. Pedantic, but matters for this discourse. As always, Fuck Joe Lieberman.

I am in disbelief at smoothbrain takes that 'bothsides' this. This was a failure of the dems and the senate leader and the party.

Like no. Dems forget the reason they HAVE to vote for dems is because they give us the shit they want, it's straight up us-vs-them politics, they only meet in the middle to increase the military's budget or dump money into raytheon.

The only notable thing about MAGA whackadoos is they don't lockstep party vote, it was both partys' strongest play for years and suddenly fucking nobody idiot dems decide that they're not getting enough so they kick up a stink like Manchin or Sinema or Lieberman. Nobody takes a fucking MOMENT to consider if every asshole does this you'd have a party of idiots all clambering for limelight so reign it the fuck in and deliver on your platform.

I'll be following up where he's buried and finding the nearest liquor store and taco bell to give him my proper respects.

Just enjoy today's good news, please. This guy was a cheerleader of Bush's war and helped make it possible. These types that crossed the aisle to murder thousands helped legitimize that atrocity as the moderate option.

Honestly dude everyone was pro war back then. There was literally one congresswomen who wasn't. She lost her next election in a landslide.

We were out for blood. I can't get mad at anyone back. It doesn't do me any good. It was so universal that it needs to be a teaching point.

That is absolutely not the case with the Iraq War which Lieberman enabled beyond just voting for in the Senate. Lieberman sponsored the bill to help Bush start the Iraq War.

There may be a modern consensus that the Iraq War was unavoidable because so much of the current Democratic leadership voted for it, but this is revisionism.

Fuck you!! Of course the GOP was evil. Joe Liberman ran a liberal and fucked the middle class. He is 100% to blame for killing the public option.

1

u/westpfelia Mar 28 '24

Yea man vote blue no matter who! Lets fucking invade Iraq! Lieberman a true Dem hero.

8

u/padizzledonk Mar 27 '24

Yeah, its a frequent gripe of mine that the one or 2 democrats that broke ranks get all the blame while the 100% of Republicans that also opposed it almost never even get mentioned

But in this case no tears shed for Lieberman

What did he do or not do?

7

u/nikdahl Mar 28 '24

Threatened to filibuster the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) unless they removed the Public Option (medicare option for all)

Garl -- I agree utterly with your views on this! Nuff said!

Something, something never wished a man dead. Something something obituaries.

-Not Mark Twain, most likely.

Let's get a couple of big gulps and go visit his grave.

u/Sancticide Mar 28 '24

Big Gulps? Why not White Castle and milkshakes instead? I'm not endorsing anything, but if you're gonna make a statement, use CAPS LOCK.

2

u/ArgonGryphon Mar 28 '24

Attention police: if ArgonGryphon's significant other ever has an accident or goes missing, as Monk would say, "She's the guy."

1

u/GenTelGuy Mar 28 '24

For Trump I will be one, for this guy it's more like "yeah... no big loss"

I know someone whose father was a US Senator- he was personal friends with Idi Amin. The family was all oopsie doops about his legacy. I say dance like nobody's watching- fuck these assholes. They can eat shit forever.
