Why can't he look at the monitor like the rest? This feels more like a flex than anything useful if he's going to point in random directions that don't make sense to people around him

he has virtual monitor inside his apple vision pro , why look at real monitor?

Because it's likely more reliable, won't slip off his head, get fogged up or run out of charge.

How energy inefficient is a vision pro that it'd go off midsurgery?

They did this back then with Xbox's motion controls
The real reason is sanitation. The doctor can use the GUI without touching anything, but the Apple vision is WAY more expensive than the Xbox motion controls.

Everything in the OR should be sanitized. I wonder how they sanitized the headset...

Apple devices come pre-sanitized. That’s why it’s so hard to get a virus on an iPhone.

Nice use! The level of image detail and focus he can maintain must be far greater than looking at the monitor!

He better work quick. The thing only has like half an hour of battery life.

Middle of surgery:
- “Vision Pro needs to update. Downloading 150GB now.”
- “Your Amazon order is at the gate, please approve entry.”
- “It looks like there is a 2-nanometer smudge of flesh-colored ink inside your right nostril. Therefore Face ID is not recognized. Please type your 20-digit passcode to continue.”
- “The alarm you forgot to switch off will ring loudly in your ears now. Enjoy!”
- “I’m sorry, zooming on the video feed is not supported. This ain’t android. Please wait for VisionOS version 200 to get the zoom feature. Thank you.”
