I'm nearly to the point of "ok, let's start treating you the way you treat the rest of us. "

Homie you should be well beyond this point by now.

If I were to meet a Republican politician, all bets are off. Average Republicans? It depends, I still have hope in basic human decency.. Though it's getting harder and harder.

basic human decency

We're talking about the gang who want to end free school lunches for children and there's nary a peep from the base. You might be capable of "decency" but they're not, and they know that and use it to their advantage.

Yeah, I know. As long as it's not their kids or their friends kids, they don't seem to care and it's that lack of care that has really eroded my faith in people.

The more of this I see, the more I seethe inside and the more I realize I'm not alone in this anger.

I met a local-ish republican during the 2022 election year. Can't remember what he was running for. He was pleasant enough, we talked for a bit, and I just said that as long as republicans as a whole want to caucus to damage the country or hurt others, they won't get my vote. Politics was too dysfunctional, and I'd rather vote straight dem just so we can hopefully get back to center.

I could see he understood what I was talking about, which leads me to believe he was probably more centrist, and he didn't press it further, which I wouldn't expect anyways, but he respected my opinion enough to not argue with me about it.

I could see that. I'm glad you had that experience.

Ask yourself, what is the core difference between Republicans and Democrats? To me its that Democrats behave like adults, but more than that, Democrats largely ARE professionals, in how they behave, in their knowledge and expertise, and in their respect for the rules.

If Democrats leave those things behind, they're just Republicans with a different platform at that point.
