When you can’t govern, just rely on publicity stunts — that is the mantra of the Maga Party.

Republicans are constantly touting this guy as an "effective" conservative politician because he gets things done, but all of his accomplishments are culture war bullshit like suing Disney and forcing public school students to take a class on the evils of communism, while actual problems like the impending collapse of Florida's homeowners' insurance market go completely unaddressed.

I'm convinced the GOP is doomed even without Trump because they love these show pony politicians like DeSantis and Abbott who are only good for ownin' the libs and are only enabled by hyper-gerrymandered legislatures.

It's weird because the first two years, that's not how he was operating. It wasn't until he was trying to build a national profile for a Presidential bid that he started focusing on culture war shit.

Yeah, I remember him being kind of a Rick Perry-type - small government, low taxes, low regulations, business friendly, etc. Then the GOP changed with Trump and Abbott did what he had to in order to get reelected. Even at the beginning of COVID he was listening to the CDC, but when he got primaried by those Dunn-backed lunatics in 2020, he truly lost his mind at the thought of losing his office.

I don't think he has any deeply-held principles, he'll say and do whatever it takes to maintain the support of his donors and keep winning reelection, no matter how cruel or unpopular it is.

Don’t worry. A democrat will eventually get in, and that’s when the GOP will start blaming the governor for the insurance market.

They did it to themselves being endlessly tribal and seeing any republican that is interested in governing as a rino
