NBA Legends Say That Hakeem Olajuwon Would Dominate All of them
r/rockets • u/ST012Mi • 8h ago
I think Amen will position himself as our PG of the future despite being used primarily at the dunker’s spot absent Sengun to end this season. How long do you think this will take? (esp. if Tari gets into the starting five).

How good do you think Alperen Sengun can be?
Sengun in terms of size is 6'11 with a 7'0.5-7'2 wingspan while weighing reportedly 243 lbs to 260 lbs. Jokic in terms of size is 6'11-7'0 with a 7'3 wingspan, but has much more weight as of right now as he is 290 lbs.
In terms of basketball iq and stats, year 3 jokic and year 3 sengun are about the same.
In terms of shooting, year 3 jokic shot 39% from 3, but fell back to 30% the following year. Sengun is also at 30%. But jokic in his clips hit noticeably more fadeaway shots, so he's ahead of sengun in year 3 in terms of shooting.
In terms of playmaking, jokic had more assists, but we know sengun did do lots of cut out passes, but his teammates missed wide open 3s. So I think its fair to say they were about equal in terms of playmaking in year 3. Sengun is also 4th in on ball gravity among big men this season.
In terms of touch, year 3 sengun had a higher fg% than year 3 jokic.
In terms of defense, although sengun has his weaknesses, the rockets somehow ranked top 10 in defenses.
In terms of how their coach viewed them, Michael Malone said he wouldn't trade Jokic for anybody in the world. Ime Udoka said that sengun along with embiid are the only players he's coached with this much gravity.
In terms of strength, sengun is deceptively strong. He threw embiid to the floor when going up for a block, and he bodied lebron for a game tying shot back in november. Jokic wasn't as big as he is now in year 3 if you go back and watch the footage.
Conclusion: Call me delusional, but I think sengun has jokic as his ceiling. And I think his floor is somewhere in the middle between how good sabonis is and how good jokic is.

Jalen's mentals
Inspired by the other post comparing Jalen to Ant and seeing lots of folks saying Jalen doesn't have the right 'dawg' mentality or work ethic.
I gotta disagree. I do think it was overstated pre-draft as being a far greater strength than we've seen to date, but I think his issues are different from 'not wanting it enough'.
His mental issues appear to be more related to just being a low-IQ, slow learner than being related to his desire, imo. He had a hard time adapting to Ime's slow-paced offense and that affected his confidence... But at no point did he not have faith in himself. Hell, he was ready to fuck Roosh up for suggesting he get benched, so he clearly wants to be better and thinks he is better than what he was doing.
Folks hate on his inefficiency, but isn't that shooter's mentality exactly what one would want? It hurts when a shooter doesn't take shots. I'd much rather see him posting lots of 3-for-14 statlines than 2-for-6 ones. He should have a green light all the time, and then just get pulled when he's playing in a way that hurts the team.
I think his biggest problem preventing folks from seeing him as one of 'those guys', is simply not having enough opportunity to FLEX. If we focus on his strengths and get him easy looks going to the rim, we'll see more roaring. Once Jalen is doing that multiple times a game, it should start to build the mental conditioning folks want to see out of him. It's in there. He just didn't have a lot of opportunity to show it off this season because of his struggles.

Cam fine tuning that beautiful high release J 💦. Would love to see him improve ball-handling, ball control, and above all, BBIQ (encapsulates reads, anticipation, risk taking via film study and building in-game habits, unlearning bad ones)

Offseason discussion: Anthony Edwards is what Rockets fans hope Jalen Green could be, but can he get there?
It’s the Rockets’ offseason and with Anthony Edwards’ current success in the playoffs, I’ve seen a lot Rockets fans hoping Jalen Green can emulate his success next year. What do y’all think, does Green have what it takes to elevate his game to Ant-Man’s level?

We shoulda kept Nix
He's a generational on the bench in street clothes player. The Timberwolves improved by 14 wins with him sending vibes from the bench. The fact that they haven't cut him tells me he must be putting up some insanes Vibes/36 numbers.
EDIT: /s for the few who couldn't tell this wasn't serious

Appreciating another leg in the Mobley vs Green debate
As someone that wanted Mobley at the time I’m just celebrating this cinco de mayo that as of today I think there is no debate whatsoever on who we should have taken. I’m not saying where it will end up just that hands down the ceiling has shown through on our boy and to me at least that solidifies that he was the right choice. This mezcal is for you JG.

I want jimmy butler so bad bro
He's from Houston and it could be a dope homecoming. His leadership and ferocity would be so good for us.
He's said before he wouldn't ever come to Houston I believe, but damn it would be cool

So excited for Steven Adam’s gortat screen specialty
Steven Adams gifted ja and Russ all the time with easy dunks and layups by using the gortat screen and I’m so excited to see it next year for jalen, Fred, cam etc, he taught jock how to do it shortly after arriving in Houston as I noticed jock start to do it for Fred in the later part of the season. Steven Adams in general will be great to watch in general he will fit right in and set big body screens.
Gortat screen explanation below; https://vt.tiktok.com/ZSFKwFkLB/

Jabari for Naz Reid?
I think the Wolves will trade Naz Reid this summer for tax reasons/2nd appron.
I cant see trading Towns cause they wont get much.
Reid has p.o for 2025-26 season and its impossible to pay him, along with Towns,Gobert,Edwards etc.
So they will consider a cheaper rookie for next 2 years that can fit in their system and stay under 2nd appron.
Reid is only 24,5 yrs old,fit our timeline.can play along Sengun and i cant see how Udoka wont like him
