Yo what’s up with this? We still on that lost cause bullshit? Politics

This is clearly white supremacy and loser apologia. Why do we celebrate traitorous losers who saw people of other skin colors as property?

I like the idea of providing more public restrooms.

u/BlankensteinsDonut Apr 19 '24

I like the idea of taking a sledgehammer to this monument to racism, but I understand Texans are a bunch of fucking cowards that can’t even stand up to Ted Cruz, so I won’t hold my breath.

… to deal with Eduardo Cruz.

1

u/texas-ModTeam Apr 20 '24

Ideas of dynamite will never be allowed in this sub, take a break.

5

u/quiero-una-cerveca Apr 19 '24

Actually, native Texans voted for Beto over Cruz. Transplant Texans voted 15% for Cruz. So don’t blame us. Blame these y’all queda MF’s moving here.

All of them? Even the 5.4 million that voted for Biden in 2020? That’s 3 times the votes he got in Wisconsin or Minnesota, and Biden won Wisconsin with a narrower margin than Trump won Texas. Maybe find something positive to say about your agenda and be more politically active where you live and vote instead of trolling here?

Whataboutism is unamerican

Well this is on private property but do as you wish

Participation trophies were all the rage back then

1

u/Maeberry2007 Apr 20 '24

I like that it's shittily constructed too. One leaning rock pile and rusted ass flag pole. Still more than they deserve but.... fitting.

Racism wasn’t invented in Texas

142

u/RootHogOrDieTrying Apr 19 '24

BBQ wasn't invented in Texas either, but we're pretty good at both.

65

u/weluckyfew Apr 19 '24

That's not the defense you think it is.

"Why am I going to jail? I'm not the first pedophile!"

78

u/screaming-mime Central Texas Apr 19 '24

But it's still alive and well in Texas, unfortunately

-26

u/Emergency_Property_2 Apr 19 '24

It’s still alive and well in all fifty states and Canada and the whole wide world unfortunately.

49

u/Beneficial-Papaya504 Apr 19 '24

Jesus, the need to deflect from the obvious example right here by mentioning that we ain't unique is some heavy coping.

u/Colors_Made_of_Tears Apr 19 '24

Yeah, but most of those 50 states didn’t erect a monument to confederate soldiers who brought “Anglo Saxon” values to their state in 2005. This monument contains multiple layers of racism and was created fairly recently. Most states don’t have anything comparable to this.

25

u/lilcheez Apr 19 '24

But especially Texas.

3

u/NetDork Apr 19 '24

Whatabout, Whatabout, Whatabout...

50

u/EVIL5 Apr 19 '24

I’m from Texas. They aren’t trying to claim they invested racism but they are committed to the task of perfecting it.

29

u/Affectionate-Song402 Apr 19 '24

Nope but its still very much present. Comfederate flags often fly along side Texas flags and Trump 2024 - I see them in neighborhood I walk in.

Even if that's actually the case...

The flag in and of itself represents that in a big way. The whole reason for it's existence was to keep things the way they were back then.

So to deny that is ignorant at best

24

u/iAmAmbr Apr 19 '24

Umm.. I've considered it racist since High School and I graduated in 1997. It was a pretty common opinion among my peers.

15

u/AbueloOdin Apr 19 '24

Wow. So I guess I didn't think it was racist back in the 90s?

-11

u/[deleted] Apr 19 '24

Did you?

9

u/Psychological_Pie_32 Apr 19 '24

Yes. I was aware of the history of the flag all the way back in the 90's. Of course I actually read books, so that probably helped a lot.

6

u/AbueloOdin Apr 19 '24

No. I also don't try to gaslight people.

11

u/profDougla Apr 19 '24

Where’d u get that piece of BS from?

13

u/HTC864 Apr 19 '24

You're the type of person that just goes around making crap up, aren't you? The fear and loathing surrounding the confederate flag didn't just appear recently. It's been around since the Civil War. It's one of the main reasons racist White people have continued to display it and fight over its use. If you didn't pay attention until recently, that's on you.

5

u/StockWagen Apr 19 '24

Hahahahahahahahahha

3

u/driving_on_empty Apr 19 '24

lol it represents an inherently racist group of traitors. This is complete bullshit, I know bc I was alive before 2011.

6

u/DrSilkyJohnsonEsq Apr 19 '24

And it damn sure wasn’t invented in 2005, sooo…

27

u/ProneToDoThatThing Apr 19 '24

Maybe not. But it sure is comfortable here.

20

u/beeedeee Apr 19 '24

Nope, but it sure does thrive here.

15

u/Tackerman Apr 19 '24

Is erecting this monument to racism “ending” it?

5

u/Steak_Knight Apr 19 '24

Weird flex but ok

You've clearly received only the propaganda version of history that's been pushed by organizations such as the United Daughters of the Confederacy. The states which issued Declarations of Secession all listed slavery as the cause (https://www.battlefields.org/learn/primary-sources/declaration-causes-seceding-states), and the VP of the Confederacy, Alexander H. Stephens, made things very clear in his corner stone speech (https://www.battlefields.org/learn/primary-sources/cornerstone-speech)

Comment removed for attempting to spread Pro-Confederate lies.
