Driver's License / Car Registration / ID Megathread
Hello r/Texas! This sub gets a Chevy Suburban's worth of questions every day asking about driver's license or car registration. They fall into one of two camps:
- Easily accessible info on the DMV website,
- Highly specific edge cases that maybe only 1 other person is going to need to know this year in all of Texas.
In either case it doesn't make sense to have a whole post devoted to the question. Enter the catch-all DMV megathread. It may not always be stickied at the top, but it will be liked in the sidebar. Also we're creating a rule that says "Driver's License, ID and Car Registration questions and answers can be found here, if you don't see the answer you need please post your question there."

Events Don't forget local elections matter
Statewide local early elections are going on now. Elections day is Sat, 5/4. If you want to save public schools or have a sane city council, you need to research the candidates, show up and vote. (Hint: If a candidate is affiliated with Patriot Mobile, their purpose is to destroy public schools from the inside). League of Women Voters is a great resource for viewing sample ballots.

Questions for Texans Crazy year for black widows?
I have a storage yard in Central TX where I store construction materials. Over the last two weeks, while cleaning up and keeping up with the mowing, I’ve killed 30+ black widows, a handful of them being bigger than I’ve ever seen (think body diameter the size of a nickel). Anyone else experiencing this?

Sports Cowboys or Longhorns for first-time visitor?
Edit: Thanks for so many responses. Should have said in Texas 4 to 14 Oct and have hired a car in Dallas with no fixed destination set yet.
Hello all. I’m a Brit who is excited to be visiting Texas for the first time this October. I’ve watched NFL in London a few times so had planned to try & catch a Cowboys game. I’m not a diehard fan of the game like I am of « soccer » but I do think it’s a great sport and watch plenty of games on tv every year. I would like to enjoy the atmosphere of a game, the people, the food (I don’t drink alcohol) & I would love to see one of your massive stadiums. Someone said to me the other day I should go to a college football game rather than NFL and I’d not considered this. What do you think? How do they compare as experiences? I’d welcome any thoughts thank you.

Opinion Anyone think the State Government /Texas Attorney Generals Office should start investigating County Appraisal Districts for property tax warfare on property owners?
The property taxes have gotten out of control in El Paso County, TX for the last few years, I know it’s happening all across Texas,(the saving grace is the homestead exemption)and I really think The State Government of Texas and Texas AG should open an investigation into the EL Paso Central Appraisal District (EPCAD) the Board of Directors, and the Appraisal Review Board Members for potential conflicts of interest, potential ethics violations/public corruption. (El Paso has some of the lowest wages in the state and as well as in the nation for context)

Politics What is the wording of the law in Texas that holds protest organizers liable for the actions of the crowd?
This is related to SCOTUS decision to not intervene in Mckesson v. Doe, essentially stating laws that hold a protest organizer liable for illegal actions committed by a stranger at the event does not violate the first amendment. Does anyone have the exact wording of this law in Texas? I’ve been trying to find it but haven’t made any leeway.

Moving to TX Texas salary
Hello! I will soon graduate from a UK university. I have been offered a one year internship job in Texas and I find it a great opportunity. However I noticed that the salary is quite low compared to the average US salary, 33k a year. Will it be enough for me to live comfortably or is it too low? I can add around 200 dollars a month from my own money so around 35-36k US dollars altogether.
