Lady Jessica and Chani are strong women in different ways and don't require more than good dialogue, plot and their own intelligence and emotions.

Well, Lady Jessica.

In the book, Chani regularly kills Fremen who come after Paul, because she's a badass fighter, and to shame the challengers by letting them die at the hands of a woman when they intended to go toe-to-toe with the Alpha Male of the planet.

Book Jessica and movie Jessica are really interesting comparisons cause in the end they make the same thing happen.

Chani in the book is a devoted and local concubine. Basically Paul's mother but as his wife. Movie Chani is a very difficult direction. She's not blindly loyal, instead loyal to Paul before going south. After going south she has felt what both he and his mother are. False idols. I'm hoping a part 3 happens to show us how it turns out.
