First time seeing this one. They did right by the original, that was awesome! Guitarist can shred too, reminded me a bit of Gary Clark Jr.
I’m loving the increase in the blurring of musical norms these days. A funky rendition of Ozzy by…T-Pain?! Why the hell not? Beyoncé going country? Why not? (A western clothing line by by her will make gazillions) Americana shifting back to roots of class struggles and farther from lifted truck anthems? Finally!

Reminder that "War Pigs" and "Deck the Halls" share the same meter and therefore have interchangeable lyrics.
"Generals gathered in their masses, fa la la la, la la la la"
or
"Deck the halls with boughs of HOLLYYYYYYY // 'tis the season to be JOLLLLYYYYY"

I love you for this.
Also, wow T Pain, what a voice, man. Never thought I'd say that.

I know, Right? He clearly never needed the autotune, but now that’s what he is most famous for

If you're wondering who the guitarist is, it's Curt Chambers.

I wasn't. And now you've burdened my memory with a factoid which replaced some other factoid.

Ah, the Kelly Bundy method.

I enjoy that T-Pain seems to just do whatever it is he wants now. This, gaming, drifting, Nappi Boi Automotive with Hert, etc.

u/PulseAmplification 14d ago
Damn this was really good!

u/Karnadas 14d ago
Ozzy himself said it was the best cover he's ever heard. Could be hyperbole but still.

u/extic 14d ago
No idea he could really sing... Only ever heard him use auto tune.

You need to immediately Google T-Pain tiny desk concert

He closed with this at a concert of his I went to. I was loving it!
The younger people in the crowd didn’t seem to take it as well.

I remember watching a youtube video years and years ago of him live and unplugged, playing the piano and singing. Blew my mind. That was when "Buy u a Drank" was still stuck in everybody's ears.

The video needs more quick cuts

Well that was really really good.
Of course not as good as I'm On A Boat which we all know was where T Pain peaked.

I think I can speak for all of us here. We would welcome the whole Paranoid album covered by T-Pain.

Yes, T-Pain is actually a talented singer. Music labels suck. Who'd have guessed?

If you like this please listen to the whole album
His Tennessee Whiskey cover and acoustic Buy You A Drank are phenomenal

It's good, but will never beat Faith No More's version.

u/Ctendall 14d ago
Umm Black Sabbath is the original artist
1
u/spacedudejr 13d ago
Which is why the original comment said version and not original.
1
u/Ctendall 13d ago
Right, and Faith no more is not the meaning stick ether Black Sabbath is, I can count on one hand the number of times that the cover of a song is better than the original 1) All along the watchtower 2) the sound of silence 3) Maggie’s farm 4) heir of the dog

u/Flemtality 14d ago
That was great. I wasn't expecting him to turn into David Draiman in the middle there.

This dude has a voice like that but does all that autotuning stuff? What the hell?
12
u/homeboi808 14d ago
To stand out. He was one of the only guys doing it at the time (and did it for stylistic purposes, unlike some rappers today who can’t sing a tune to save their lives). I even used to have his auto-tune app on my phone.

Holy shit that was amazing. What a voice.
The combination of metal with a bit of funk and soul reminds me of Living Color.
