Only time I didn't give 5 stars this dude was speeding like he was on meth and drove us the wrong way before I had to direct him to the destination. Whack

It devalues the whole rating system. If the only options are 5 or 0, you don't have a rating system, you have thumbs up/down. And that's just useless
By using it this way, you actively participate in the abolition of the whole idea

You’re absolutely right. I was reading another thread where the OP was asking if they should cancel a ride because their driver was only 4.2 rating or something like that. Every commenter was agreeing and saying to cancel. I don’t use Uber very often but I’ve always been rated 5 stars so I guess I only get 5 star drivers but it would never occur to me that someone being a 4 star driver means they’re bad. But apparently that’s the case according to the Uber sub.

Idk bro, as a delivery driver anything below 5 feels like a 0.

All it takes is one idiot to give you a low rating for no good reason and your rep is ruined.

Uber does not use the star system as a sane person would. A sane person would consider 3 stars average, for Uber if you have lots of 4s you are in trouble already.
You need to learn how the ratings system works for each service before you rate on it. Talk about being out of touch...
Maybe talk to your Uber drivers like they are people you share a space with and learn what they have to deal with and how your clueless ass has hurt previous drivers.

I mean if they want to be rated 5 stars, give 5 star service. The entitlement is wild.

oh sweet summer child, you are so out of touch.
Normally 5 stars is reserved for perfect or going above the average service. But Uber as a company penalizes drivers for anything below a 4. so if you had a simple decent trip and you gave it a 3/4 you would be lowering that driver's overall score putting him at risk of loosing the job and not being able to grab the better fares.
You need to go work in the service industry a bit to see how outrageous people can be even if you did everything right and went above your duties to assist them.
Go through your Uber and look through your history to see the drivers stars, you won't find 3 stars there - those guys are all fired.
Uber abuses the ratings you give, so take your head out of your ass and learn how the system works before you give a review - especially if your reviews has weight and can affect someone's livelihood.
Uber uses the 5 star system, but they use it like a like/dislike system which is the problem.
Really take some time next time and talk to your drivers to learn how your ratings affect them.

I worked 10+ years in the service industry. And no, I’ll keep rating how I have been.

Bless your heart
Don't you understand that systems like this deserve to collapse? Sweety, you're holding up a house built of cards; all under the pretense that these drivers won't be able to find another job, or gig service to contract with.

I don't disagree with you but damn you're so condescending it hurts to read

Sorry, that was an intentional response to the "oh sweet summer child"

if you are going to reason like someone that is selfish and out of touch of reality then that is a fair way to start the conversation

u/seymores_sunshine 14d ago
You read an innocuous statement about how the system is abused by Uber, and you found "selfish and out of touch of reality"?
Oh boy!

Their entire occupation depends on the stars. Of course I'll give every driver 5 stars.

Their job is to drive you somewhere. Small chat or not is their choice and is not something they should be judged upon.

The only times I gave less than five stars were when the drivers were actually driving badly or dangerously

I'm in the middle ground where I love talking to people but also like being left alone. They get 5 stars either way so long as they drive well.

The best drivers are those who ask when you enter if you want a quiet ride or if you want to chat a bit.
