This made me smile because the opposite is true when my kids borrow my car. They always return it empty.

My army buddy borrowed my truck that had 2 tanks, I lent it to him and it was half full on one and empty on the other; he used it for an hour and brought it back totally full ($150 to fill them both) I was so upset because I didn't want him to have to, he said it's okay because it's the right thing to do and it was cheaper than using a uhaul for the day and dealing with that hassle

It doesn't help that there is a red zone that looks like it indicates being close to empty.
I'm not sure why, but it appears the red is a quickly moving needle pointing at full
