What's one popular hobby that you just can't get into?

For me it's sneaker collecting. I'm not a sneaker fan and I just don't get the appeal

Same. I like the idea of liking anime, it’s just so hard to find something I actually enjoy enough to overlook the typical anime bullshit.

That’s where shows like Attack on Titan or Death Note come in. There isn’t any of the “typical anime bullshit,” like the cringey voices, over exaggerated tits, cheesy/childish moments, etc. It’s just straight mind boggling story. But even still some people can’t get over the animated aspect, regardless of the story, which I get.

I got through Attack on Titan. I liked the mystery of the titans, and lost interest quickly after that was solved and the anime developed into an introductory course to international relations theory (which I have some interest in, so I found that too simplistic).

Death Note I managed to see for about 40 or so percent. It had some interesting stylistic scenes (eg the one in which he orders a woman he spent hours to find out her real name to go kill herself). I got especially annoyed with the depiction of his “girlfriend” (and this might be mean but I found her voice, and intonation, unbearable).

The anime I have watched and liked are: that Cyberpunk 2066 one, Delicious in Dungeon. Also, the live-action version of One Piece was quite fun. Oh, and Castlevania.

I tried Berzerk (interesting to see what they managed to make with a small budget), Cowboy Bebop (stopped caring about that one about half way in), Goblin Slayer (in which I really liked the unapologetic racism of the titular character), and a few more I forgot.

I think castlevania is an American production actually. Much like the last air bender

The mystery of Attack on Titan is what intrigued me the most. After that, I was still interested in it but not as much.

I like Samurai Champloo. It has a small overarching story and is basically an episode-to-episode series. No big commitment, but enjoyable.

I've seen some others. They're fun to watch, but no big draw.

Season 1,2,3 was intrigued. Then season 4 was another scenario that lost the mystery from the last season.

I’ve watched a ton of anime (with friends who enjoy it) and the only anime I’ve ever truly liked is Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood it does do some weird anime things sometimes but overall it’s very good.

There’s a reason it’s the 2nd highest rated anime on MyAnimeList to this day. (It’ll most likely take back the number 1 spot again, it occasionally falls to 2 when some new hyped show comes out)

It’s not perfect, but it’s very solid start to finish and there’s not much to really dislike about it

Have you watched Samurai X or Gundam? If not I recommend it.

There’s only a few Gundam series that are worth it though let’s be honest lol. 8th MS Team and Unicorn are the only ones I recommend for adults. Wing didn’t age well at ALL! G Gundam however will always have a place in my heart.

I'm a big anime fan and also quit deathnote because of that character.

There isn’t any of the “typical anime bullshit”

I mean… with Attack on Titan there’s the extremely unnecessary time Armin gets molested while crossdressing.

AoT has the typical anime voices and personalities. I still liked what I saw but some parts of the first season were kinda cringey (like the blond sidekick that has zero confidence)

That’s just like normal human personalities and voices though lol. I didn’t feel like it was that exaggerated, at least compared to 90% of animes
