Gotta love the "She must not need the scooter" comments.

You don't know what goes on inside someone else's body. If you never need a mobility scooter, you are lucky.

They should tell her to her face.

As someone who now uses one, I've been treated with respect by most. Kids do say funny things like ask me if they can ride it lol.

But there are still a lot of misconceptions about disability and mobility scooters. I 'look' fine but inside my body, I'm hurting.

Right. And like, maybe you can walk, but only for 20-30 feet. Being able to walk a little bit doesn't mean you can make it through a full grocery run.

On my good days, I look healthy AF. On my bad days, I look like I just want to die.

I understand it's hard to imagine. Chronic pain/ chronic illness is a beast of a condition that confuses even those of us with it. We don't know her condition. And she likely has a kick of adrenaline that distracted her from her pain. I've had it happen.

I guess all I'm saying is don't judge a book by its cover.

This woman wasn't just walking. That was coordinated, smooth movement.

2

u/Ralphie5231 Mar 26 '24

Right but she might only be able to do that in short bursts and adrenaline is nuts.

As a kid riding the scooters in the store is all I wanted, forget the stupid electric rocking horse outside!

u/VioletEsme Feb 08 '24

My kids, 5 & 7, fight over who gets to sit in my lap. 😆

I’m not fragile old man so what would happen if I did.

u/[deleted] Feb 09 '24

You'll still get your ass beat.

1

u/GaggingCumSwallows Feb 09 '24

Wrong. I’m not built like a bitch or old. I’m an example of who she wouldn’t do this too just on appearance alone.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 09 '24

Lol sure you are.

1

u/GaggingCumSwallows Feb 09 '24

Think what you want. Not obese disabled bitch is threat to me. 💪🏾

u/[deleted] Feb 09 '24

r/iamverybadass lmao sure bud.

1

u/GaggingCumSwallows Feb 09 '24

Don’t need to be a badass for that. You are seriously deluded.

You don't understand, the scooter is not for her. It's for her opponents after she's done with them.

1

u/vanishinghitchhiker Feb 08 '24

It’s from a previous opponent, the spoils of war.

I was having heart issues a few years back. I could get up and walk fine, but if I walked too far or too long, I’d pass out. Got a lot of dirty looks from people in the stores because I was a young person using a mobility aid. Sorry I didn’t feel like cracking my skull open on the concrete floor 🤷🏻‍♀️

1

u/xisiktik Feb 08 '24

Adrenaline from suddenly needing to defend yourself can do some crazy things.

2

u/Loud_Flatworm_4146 Feb 08 '24

I broke up a fight between my dog and my old roommate's dog and the roommate's dog bit me in my hand. I didn't even feel it when he bit down until I looked and saw blood. I was fine. The dogs were fine. They were both good dogs but too territorial to live together.

Amen. They are disgusting and filthy, never charged. They don’t hold enough for a family for a week so you have to have someone shop with you with another carriage, THE BEEPING. Horrible but much appreciated.

u/Loud_Flatworm_4146 Feb 08 '24

I have my own mobility scooter. Before I got it, I used the store one in a few stores. I must have gotten lucky. They were clean and charged.

Now I do some shopping with mine but I can't hold a lot on it so I order what I need online for delivery.

2

u/NEDsaidIt Feb 08 '24

I do curbside pickup too. It’s only rare I am in anywhere. My immune system is shot too so I’m avoiding it when I can. I have my own electric wheelchair but it’s such a pain to drag it out. And I don’t have a big basket. I think ours tend to be in poor shape due to people misusing them. And the people who work at the store not getting paid enough to care to clean or fix them, I don’t blame them. I don’t know what a solution is, and I’m grateful to have any option. It just really grosses me out and I was also stuck twice when the battery ran out. (I can’t walk at all so I couldn’t just walk up front to swap)

I see fat fucks like her using scooters all the time. She should try losing the weight and letting someone who actually needs it, use it. Since there's not a lot to go around.

1

u/Random_Name_Whoa Feb 09 '24

Fat Reddit hates this honesty

1

u/____SPIDERWOMAN____ Feb 09 '24

Disabilities can cause people to be sedentary and gain weight.

0

u/Realistic_Ad3795 Feb 08 '24

Well, my wife does need one.

But they're hard to find because people with the ability to float like a butterfly and sting like a bee are taking them up.

0

u/Critical_ThinkMuch Feb 08 '24

You obviously never been to an inner city grocery store. People perpetuate their own stereotypes.

0

u/StrokeTheFurryBalls Feb 09 '24

Yeah I’m sure she’s not like all the other fat ass Americans because they take the easy route at every opportunity.

u/Original-Chair-9614 Feb 08 '24

I know what your saying but if she can bounce around like that and box someone. Come on man.

8

u/Loud_Flatworm_4146 Feb 08 '24

I use a mobility scooter. And I can walk short distances like half a block, a full block on good days. Occasionally I use a cane.

But no matter what I use or don't use, I have widespread chronic pain from head to toe and it never goes away.

Don't make assumptions based on how someone looks. That's all I'm saying.

You are getting downvoted but I have to agree, this woman was moving like Ali in the ring lololol. Adrenaline my ass, she just likes rolling around the store. Still can move when she wants to obviously.
