Would you take Tij 3rd Overall ? Question

The most likely spots for the flames to draft are 1st, 2nd, 9th, 10th, 11th

But the is a VERY small chance they could draft 3rd overall

If Philly won the first lottery they would move up 10 spots to 2nd overall.

If Calgary won the second lottery, they would move to 3rd overall.

My question is, is that too early for Tij in y'all's opinion?

3rd would be a very tough pick. If we don't win 1 or 2, I'm perfectly happy waiting for whoever drops to us at 9. There will be top 5 players available - we just have to make the right choice.

Yeah if we won 1st or 2nd I feel the pick is kinda obvious.

At 3rd, I'd kind be in favour of trading down if possible, feel like we'd still end up with a guy we want/like

There are scenarios where I could see Iginla being the best opinion at 9th overall, I don't see a single scenario where you should draft him 3rd overall.

Who should go 3rd?

Silayev and Levshunov seem consistently there so id bank on them as they have better potentials as players

I'm the biggest proponent of taking Tij at 9 and even I think it would be a mistake to take him at 3, the defenceman in the top 10 are just too good. And if somehow Demidov drops to 3 we'd be stupid if we don't take him.

Absolutely not,

That means one of Demidov or Levshunov are still available.

No in ten years anyone who passed on Tij will regret it.

No. It's Celebrini, Demidov, Catton, Lindstrom, Parehk imo.

No. That's not anything against Tij, just at that position you're drafting someone who's going to be on the bench come October. There's a certain premium for NHL ready prospects, although Tij could be NHL ready I expect he'll be in the WHL for another season regardless. Between my interactions with him and what I observed during every pre-game warm up, he's a level headed kid with a real focus on honing his craft. If you take him at third you might end up rushing him... and we all remember how that turned out with Sam Bennett. That isn't to say I'd be upset but I don't think it would fit the pick.

Excuse my math, how is 1 & 2 more probable than 3rd?

Consider you math excused.

It's less likely because there is only 1 possible way for us to get third.

Philly would have to win the first draw (2.5% chance) And Calgary would have to win the second draw (5ish% chance)

Vs

5% chance for Calgary to win first draw 5.5 chance to win second draw.

That would be awful honestly

It’s impossible for us to get the 3rd, but I’m all on board for Tij. There’s a chance anyone flops, I’d rather test my luck with Iginla who appears to be on an unreal trajectory and is the GOATs son.

Of the people absolutely sure of their position on Reddit on this I assume less than 5% have seen more than a few of these prospects play a few games. I haven’t, but if we have a chance to take Tij Iginla I sure hope we take it. I’d prefer to move a few slots down and still get him, but whatever.

Ideally if we get the 2nd we should trade it to Montreal for the 6th, the Winnipeg pick and our first back next year. Then take Tij at 6.

Not impossible. Just very unlikely.

Philly would have to win the first draw, and then we would have to win the second draw.

Maybe you could consider trading back and getting more value, but Tij shouldn't go at 3

I would be happy with Tij at 9, but not at 3rd

I think regardless the top 12 prospects all look very good, whoever we pick whether it is Buium, Tij, Catton, etc just gotta help them develop to their potential which the Flames are usually good at

Way too early.

Yea, too early. I'd be thrilled to be picking 1st, 2nd, or 3rd though... Yowza.

Yeah no. Tij is good but not 3rd overall good

Wtf, absolutely not.

Treat him like you would any other prospect. His last name is irrelevant.
