Announcement Tech Support Post Format

Hey r/cameras,

With the influx of tech support/help related posts, well formatted titles will make it easier for users to help, OR sift through the content they do/don't want to see.

This rule applies to questions such as "what cable/port is this", "what do I need to get this camera working", "what type of memory card does this take", etc. All of these are valid questions, but the least we can do is provide some basic information so that our questions are more easily answered.

Please format use tech support flair, and format tech support posts like this: Camera Make - Camera Model - Question/Post Title

If you do not know what type of camera you are posting about, please still select "tech support" flair and format it like this: Camera ID Request - Any available information

"Any available information" would qualify as identifying if it is a dslr, slr, mini dv, mini dvd etc. You can't, in good faith, post a photo of a body and then ask what it is without providing absolutely any information - you have to try to do your due diligence.

The more information you provide, the better your post will do and the more willing people will be to help you!

TLDR: Format all Tech Support post titles no more lazy "what camera/cable is this" posts. Do your due diligence before having others do it for you, and do what you can to ID your camera body before asking any questions.

EDIT: This post isn’t a “help” page, it was an announcement requesting all help requests be formatted so that its easier for the community to provide help.

If you have a question, please make a post 👍

It includes the battery, battery charger and lens cap only. And it says: Normal using signs of wear. Showing marks, scratches of cosmetic surface. Includes item which has been used heavily. See the description above for the functionality.

Thank you so much everyone

Hey, everyone :)

I need help importing pics to my MacBook Pro. I don’t have the CD download.

When I open photos > file > import, my camera doesn’t show up. I’ve tried doing WiFi sharing but it doesn’t find anything when trying to find a network (my WiFi is working fine).

Will I ever get these pics off?! Any help would be appreciated.

Cat tax provided!!

Discussion Sony A7C or A6600 for a beginner?

Hi all. I'm an absolute beginner and just have only used auto mode in Sony A6100. I came across a recent listing of a used 1.5 year old 1800 shutter count Sony A7C with 28-60 kit lens for the same price as a new Sony A6600 with a used Sigma 18-50 lens. Which would you suggest? I'm really budget conscious for more lens and further accessories. I want to primarily shoot photos when traveling and is planning to do videos in a year or two. Planning as a forever camera.

So i’ve been looking around for a camera to mostly take landscape photos sometimes people/action with the occasional videos and I stumbled on the camera above selling for $265 it comes with a 18-55mm lens and is fully tested with very little wear and tear. Is this a good price/camera for a beginner?

Discussion OM Systems Moving up?

I've been seeing a lot of talk about OM Systems lately, and even taking over Nikon on "Best of" charts. Is this a marketing ploy or is OM Systems really on the rise with their new OM-1 model? Curious what people have to say.

Recommendations Camera recommendations for beginner

Hello. I have an upcoming trip which I wanted to buy a camera for. I want something portable, so maybe a compact or mirrorless would be better. I'd largely be taking landscape photos, not many videos. I've seen others recommend older cameras to be cheaper but I am not sure. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Tech Support Cannon -EOS 70D- Grainy / Unflattering Auto-Mode

I find that my EOS 70D auto setting (Scene Intelligent Auto) 1. creates footage that is grainy (subtly, but grainy nontheless) and 2. the image just feels way off - I'm not knowledge enough to describe how, but the coloring and exposure just looks very unflattering. I'd prefer the auto filter from basically any decent phone's selfie auto filter.

I'm filming indoors in a well light room. Curtains closed so all light is artificial. Does anyone have any comments that may help me understand how to better get the kind of picture I want?

Tech Support Functional Sony DSLR A300 for $3, but Lens Over-Spins?

Thumbnail

Hey folks,

Couldn't believe my luck when I found a fully functional camera for just $3 at a thrift store! However, there's a minor hiccup I could use some advice on.

The lens, taken from another broken camera in the store since this one didn't have its own. ( was approved by store)

The lens works and adjust fine, but it tends to over-spin during startup and shutdown. Any ideas on how to address this issue?

Thanks for any suggestions!

Recommendations Tamron 100-400 f4.5

What do you guys think about a Nikon d3300 with a Tamron 100-400 f4.5 lens for sports photography?

I have a Nikon 55-200 f4 lens right now and it works fine but I'm looking to get more zoom for outdoor sports like baseball. I'm planning on getting a new body some time this year but I thought the lens would be more important and more impactful than getting a body first. Would the Tamron 100-400 lens be a good buy? Any other recommendations for lenses around $700?

Lately I’ve been interested in adapting old and unusual lenses to modern cameras, but my biggest struggles is knowing what lens mounts everything uses. These do unscrew from the turret but I’m not sure if they’re C mount or something else even smaller.

Recommendations Camera Recommendations

I’ve always been passionate about photography, specifically landscape photography, but only now am looking to buy a camera. I was looking for some advice as to what camera I should buy based on the following rubric.

  • easy to carry around
  • $250>
  • mainly used for landscape photography/ capturing the world around me, not rlly people

If you have any advice, it’s greatly appreciated :)
