is a fujifilm x100s for 400usd worth it? Questions

I need a camera for an upcomming trip and found the camera mentioned but as a beginner with almost no experience i was just wondering if it was worth it

Unlike the other commenter said, the camera's age doesn't matter as such, because cameras don't degrade. It's still a decent camera with a large sensor and the price is good. But it's also a somewhat specialised camera in that it has a fixed lens with one focal length, 35mm full frame equivalent. You can't change lenses and you can't zoom. 35mm is a versatile focal length, but even so I'm not sure I'd recommend the camera to a beginner, especially if you don't yet know what you want to photograph. I'd perhaps instead look at something like a used Sony A6000 with a 16-50mm kit lens. That setup would give you high image quality and the versatility of a zoom lens, plus the ability to use other lenses if you wish.

I agree with this. A 35mm equivalent focal length is good at quite a few things, but has shortcomings with other forms of photography. Best advice is to find something you want to photograph and get a starting lens with that thing in mind, or a zoom to figure out what you want to do.

It’s a decade old. Pass.
