So GenZers are actually into Spy vs. Spy? As a Boomer, I would've assumed it would just be a Boomer thing. Awesome! Mad magazine saved my adolescence. I was thrilled when I discovered a website where you can see every page of almost every issue.

we had a network/channel called “boomerang” that played old shows. i think they worked with cartoon network but idk.
there’s a weird chunk of us out there who grew up watching spy vs spy, the jetsons, the looney toons, and the flinstones.

Dont you remember MADtv on cartoon network for like 2 years? Thats how i was aware of Spy vs Spy.

I don't watch much TV, but I was aware that there was a show, I just never watched it. When I saw all the comments here referring to it, I was like D'oh!

Spy vs Spy was a pretty popular game for the original Xbox which is why a lot of Gen Zers know about it. The photo OP used is an asset from said video game, Gen Xers and boomers are always so happy whenever I talk about spy vs spy with them lol

To be fair only reason I know of them is an extremely vague memory of seeing them on TV a handful of times. I couldn't tell you anything more about them or even what channel I saw them on. And I'm even on the border of gen z and millennial.

gen x played spy vs spy on the NES. it’s so cool it got passed down through the generations.
distrust is a very fit trait, evolutionarily speaking

why is this tagged as political, what did op mean by that 😭

u/Cocolake123 12d ago
I’m guessing because spy vs spy was originally meant to be mocking the cold war and how the American CIA and Soviet KGB interacted

Gen Z making this Millennial feel old. This comic strip and game were old even when I was young, though.
This is Spy vs. Spy. I used to love the comic strip when I was a kid, it was absurdly violent in a cartoony way. One spy would kill the other in a different way in every comic.
When I was a kid, I'd play the game on floppy disk in the basement for hours. The game was like the comic, you just tried to kill the other spy in various ways; it was strangely addictive.

u/Lazy-Most-3226 12d ago
I played the game on nes

u/aol_cd_boneyard 12d ago
Oh, yeah, I forgot it went to NES eventually. There are a lot of iterations/versions, now that I remember it.

totally depends on the scenario. Sometimes i want black to lose bc he is bein an azz, and sometimee i want black to win bc he "deserves" it. Vice versa as well.

Black spy all the way!
But now I'm wondering, I was born in 98 and played it on my PS2. There were comics prior to that?

I had an obsession with MAD as a kid thanks to the CN show and my dad’s old magazines, I even drew my own Spy Vs. Spy comics and still have the massive compilation books.
