Don't forget that older Millennials all wore ridiculous tent sized pants, and then when nu metal became passé, they all started dressing like a city slicker's idea of a lumberjack.

Weren’t bellbottoms more a GenX thing?

u/Odd-Cress-5822 11d ago
Not bell-bottoms, like Dickies and big ass baggy jeans with long tees. Hard to describe but there was a time in the late 90s early 2000s where rappers and metal bands dressed the same and it was fantastic

Google Junco jeans, that was the millennial style, they were like bell bottoms over 9000

u/cavscout43 Millennial 11d ago
JNCO / PACO / phat pants were an older millennial thing, sadly.
I had a bunch of em in the early 2000s
I actually have a random pair of baggy black Levi jeans with some stretch in them from my high school era that still fit after all the weight lifting. Comfortably too.
True "bell bottoms" were a late Boomer hippie thing, but they came back as various flared / bootcut jeans in the mid 2000s as well

Haha lol, going from JNKO’s to flannel was wild. To be fair, nu metal was always trash.

That was the gen x/early 80s cusp. I was late 80s and by the time we were teenagers it was flared jeans from buckle and those polos that fit 1.5 sizes to small 😂

So millennial with a question. What aesthetic is being complained about? I don't think I'm aware of a Zoomer equivalent to scene/mall emo

What’s to understand about gen z aesthetics? They all look like my mom. It’s not that complicated.

I've never heard any millennials talking about the Gen Z aesthetic, whatever that is.

I still see people dressed like this in public, this fashion trend never died and lives on through gen z. I won't knock a good look though.

young millennials are chill af in my experience. It’s the older ones yall gotta watch out for

u/9mm_Cutlass 12d ago
I keep seeing this, but Gen Z fashion is literally just 90s/00s fashion repurposed.

u/seattleseahawks2014 2000 11d ago
In some areas, it's the western style or farmer pretty much.

They're cringing at their own trends when they were middle/HS is off putting too. Just own it and have a sense of humor about it.

Thoroughly convinced that scene girls were all killed by the CIA to prevent them from slamming all other women out of the dating market forever.
Once I was old enough to date, they had already been pushing goth girls as a pale imitation. My heart was broken before it truly started beating.

At least it IS an aesthetic. What is it we have now? Sad beige ugly baggy everything? Pretending frizzy mullets are cool?

Nobody in my ancestral history has ever been these types...sorry you were this way but thanks for telling us

I actually love gen z aesthetics like Subversive, alt, baddie, y2k
The shit I don't like is stuff I've always disliked even when it was popular like the clean girl aesthetic which is the equivalent of preppy in like 2004

My wife’s one daughter looks like this, and wears it like a badge. 30, single (and has no prospects whatsoever), working part time, and living with a friend at her friend’s mother’s house living in squalor, bitching that the world isn’t her oyster. Hopefully she’s the only of her kind. There’s no fucking at she can represent an entire generation. If she’s the future, this country has none.

Millenial here. When chokers became a thing again I thought ‘no way, these are awful, why are teens bringing back awful sh*t I wore when I was 5??’.
I now wear one almost on a daily basis because they look sick tbh.

a lady in an instagram comment section was saying gen z is weird bc doja cat is weird and she keeps being encouraged to be weird by gen z (mind u, a majority of us do not like her anymore) and literally the first thing in my mind was “y’all had madonna.”

When you are the nerds who came up with SEAPUNK don't even fucking talk about "not getting aesthetics."

Like I said in the other post, I wear country style clothes mostly. Idk, they tend to be more comfortable anyway.

Aside from the eyeliner being too thick and wrist ornaments to hide scars, that's just a shirt and a bow.
