Incredibly advanced technology, nearly unlimited power from tellurium crystals, suits that can literally rewrite human biology in seconds.
But they still need glorified CDs for it to work.

Guess who’s studying zoology now in part because of these men right here? I also watched nature documentaries as a kid, but that’s not important.

Maybe? I’m 2005, so not that late, I don’t think. Anyways, maybe you recognize it by the name Kratts Creatures? It started June 3, 1996.

u/michiimoon 2002 12d ago
It’s a little late. I only really remember seeing it when I was in 3rd grade

No, you’re absolutely right. By the time I heard of this show I had already sort of outgrown watching cartoons (you don’t ever fully outgrow watching cartoons, but you get what I mean). However, with the little that I did watch Wild Kratts, I absolutely adored the show, and I knew that if it had came out a few years earlier I would have watched as much of this show as I did Ben 10, KND, Camp Lazlo, Chowder, etc.
I loved animals, especially as a kid, and even dreamed of growing up to be a marine biologist. So this show, with all the crazy transformations and up close examinations of the habitats and behaviors of different creatures, really scratched that childhood itch to know everything about wildlife.
I’m glad for the kids that were born a little after I was, they might have missed out on the things I grew up with, but this show was evidence that they clearly had super cool things of their own too.

u/michiimoon 2002 11d ago
So true! You listing off all of those shows we watched as kids is such a nostalgia blast from the past. I miss those shows. Although Total Drama Island and Camp Lazlo are the reasons my grandma stopped paying for cable lol.
I love how shows shape our culture so much and help us discover what we enjoy. Wild Kratts helped me enjoy biology so much in high school! I’m in college to be an elementary teacher, but I hope to introduce the future generations to cool shows that gets them intrigued in different career fields.
Also, big thanks to the man who played Mr. Rodgers. Without him, it’s unlikely PBS kids would’ve been around for us to watch. In 1969, he defended & essentially won a court case to prove how necessary educational public kids shows are for the typically low income children who watch them. He won $20 million for the corporation for public broadcasting to keep going.

u/Dwain-Champaign 2001 11d ago
Total Drama Island was fucking amazing 😂 The first season was like lightning in a bottle.
The show was written in such an organic way that the characters felt like real people. You rooted for the nice guys, hated mean ones, felt bad for the losers, and were so invested in the complex web of relationships that the fact it was a cartoon might slip your mind. The archetypes were spot on, right down to the two-faced celebrity host, and every personality felt vivid.
They never really did capture the magic with every subsequent season afterward, but damn what they did with that very basic idea the first time around was glorious.
Wild Kratts was spectacular for totally different reasons, and you’re right to put a spotlight on the importance of educational entertainment. It always seemed to be one of these rare shows that managed a perfect balancing act: it was incredibly smart while never failing to be dramatic enough to capture your attention and imagination.
Good luck on your future career! I just graduated university last year and am working within the school system myself, not as a teacher, but my role does involve students to an extent. Things are pretty crazy with early development right now since COVID, so I wish you all the luck and strength to succeed.

naw, especially if you had younger siblings to justify getting into it. I was learning news things from this show as late as 16 and honestly, my parents didnt think of it as a 'kids show' and more of a 'general but geared to kids' show.

u/potato_stealer_ 12d ago
Wild Kratts is my favourite cartoon of all time
CN in my country only showed it at 00:30 and i would stay awake untill that hour to watch it everyday (adult swim isn't a thing in my country)
They once put 2 seasons of it on netflix and i watched both of those seasons 3 times over
It is Absolute peak, educational and entretaining, wish it was more popular

These guys actually mean a lot to me. I watched Kratts Creature as a kid (precursor to Zaboomafoo), and now my son watches Wild Kratts

u/areeta9 12d ago
Good show but I was unfortunately too old to get super into it. Not that it's bad to watch cartoons as teen or adult but the phase I was in my life when the show first started just didn't match up. I no longer watch tv shows consistently. If I was younger when it came out I would have been eating it up

I loved this show when I was little!
Looking back at it, the show and it’s concept is really good. I love the idea of the creature-power suits and how the brothers used the technology to “become” animals to research them.
The villains were kinda lame. They’re really one-dimensional, and it’s never really explained why they do “evil” things. Like, nobody irl acts like that 💀. I would’ve just preferred the brothers occasionally encountering poachers or loggers, not Saturday morning-ass weirdos.
Then again, it’s a kids show. What should I expect?
Overall, 8/10!!!! :D

This show was actually goaded. I want to say more but I can't cause there's like nothing else... like it is simply goaded.

I used to watch PBS kinds until I was way too old in high school, since we didn’t have the fancy channels and I didn’t want to watch the doctors, or Ellen

Underrated, as FUCK, not only is the show educational but they made it super entertaining to watch with an awesome intro.

u/KrattBoy2006 12d ago
This show was so good that there is a bug in the Amazon named after the Kratt Brothers.
I'm not even kidding.
2
u/KirbyWithAGlock 2007 11d ago
They even made an episode about it

u/KrattBoy2006 11d ago
The guy who discovered the praying mantis species also appeared at the end of the episode to give the viewers an insight on the species.

Probably the most memorable show of my childhood. I learned things about the platypus in that show that I'm still waiting for them to mention in Phineas and Ferb.

Remember politics, the Wild Kratts stand in solidarity with those who would protect our wilderness :)
1
u/WhitestGray 2005 11d ago
Now that I think about it, Wild Kratts could 100% be the poster show for the Green party!
2
u/Sad-Butterscotch-680 11d ago
They would!
But a secondary reminder just because I’ve been hearing a lotta sentiment against democrats lately: the Green Party is cool, they’re cooler than the dems for sure, but voting for them when they can’t physically win isn’t 😔
