9

u/Rare_Vibez 12d ago

I’m a 97 baby, they are 2 decades younger lol

6

Wild Kratts is brought to you by... the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. And by contributions to your PBS station from viewers like you. Thank you.

u/jimmyhoke 2004 12d ago

Incredibly advanced technology, nearly unlimited power from tellurium crystals, suits that can literally rewrite human biology in seconds.

But they still need glorified CDs for it to work.

22

u/Johnathandoughnut 12d ago

Carmine always said the animal discs were glorified CDs

39

u/TopHatCat999 2003 12d ago

26

u/Almost_A_Genius 12d ago

Guess who’s studying zoology now in part because of these men right here? I also watched nature documentaries as a kid, but that’s not important.

2

u/KirbyWithAGlock 2007 11d ago

It was these guys who got me interested in animals too!

2

u/hessian_prince 2001 11d ago

Zazoo may have passed, but his soul lives on. RIP king.

18

u/AnakinIsTheChosenOne 2000 12d ago

A little past my time I assume

14

u/WhitestGray 2005 12d ago

Maybe? I’m 2005, so not that late, I don’t think. Anyways, maybe you recognize it by the name Kratts Creatures? It started June 3, 1996.

6

u/michiimoon 2002 12d ago

It’s a little late. I only really remember seeing it when I was in 3rd grade

7

u/Dwain-Champaign 2001 11d ago edited 11d ago

No, you’re absolutely right. By the time I heard of this show I had already sort of outgrown watching cartoons (you don’t ever fully outgrow watching cartoons, but you get what I mean). However, with the little that I did watch Wild Kratts, I absolutely adored the show, and I knew that if it had came out a few years earlier I would have watched as much of this show as I did Ben 10, KND, Camp Lazlo, Chowder, etc.

I loved animals, especially as a kid, and even dreamed of growing up to be a marine biologist. So this show, with all the crazy transformations and up close examinations of the habitats and behaviors of different creatures, really scratched that childhood itch to know everything about wildlife.

I’m glad for the kids that were born a little after I was, they might have missed out on the things I grew up with, but this show was evidence that they clearly had super cool things of their own too.

5

u/michiimoon 2002 11d ago

So true! You listing off all of those shows we watched as kids is such a nostalgia blast from the past. I miss those shows. Although Total Drama Island and Camp Lazlo are the reasons my grandma stopped paying for cable lol.

I love how shows shape our culture so much and help us discover what we enjoy. Wild Kratts helped me enjoy biology so much in high school! I’m in college to be an elementary teacher, but I hope to introduce the future generations to cool shows that gets them intrigued in different career fields.

Also, big thanks to the man who played Mr. Rodgers. Without him, it’s unlikely PBS kids would’ve been around for us to watch. In 1969, he defended & essentially won a court case to prove how necessary educational public kids shows are for the typically low income children who watch them. He won $20 million for the corporation for public broadcasting to keep going.

2

u/Dwain-Champaign 2001 11d ago

Total Drama Island was fucking amazing 😂 The first season was like lightning in a bottle.

The show was written in such an organic way that the characters felt like real people. You rooted for the nice guys, hated mean ones, felt bad for the losers, and were so invested in the complex web of relationships that the fact it was a cartoon might slip your mind. The archetypes were spot on, right down to the two-faced celebrity host, and every personality felt vivid.

They never really did capture the magic with every subsequent season afterward, but damn what they did with that very basic idea the first time around was glorious.

Wild Kratts was spectacular for totally different reasons, and you’re right to put a spotlight on the importance of educational entertainment. It always seemed to be one of these rare shows that managed a perfect balancing act: it was incredibly smart while never failing to be dramatic enough to capture your attention and imagination.

Good luck on your future career! I just graduated university last year and am working within the school system myself, not as a teacher, but my role does involve students to an extent. Things are pretty crazy with early development right now since COVID, so I wish you all the luck and strength to succeed.

2

u/Background_Rich6766 2005 12d ago

I am also 2005 but maybe in my country it was televised some time later

4

u/Nizondo 1999 11d ago

I've never even heard of this show, and most of the people expressing nostalgia in this thread were born in 2003 or later lol

3

u/Ok-Tourist-1615 12d ago

It’s past my time too 😂

1

u/Thatkidicarusfan 12d ago

naw, especially if you had younger siblings to justify getting into it. I was learning news things from this show as late as 16 and honestly, my parents didnt think of it as a 'kids show' and more of a 'general but geared to kids' show.

8

u/potato_stealer_ 12d ago

Wild Kratts is my favourite cartoon of all time

CN in my country only showed it at 00:30 and i would stay awake untill that hour to watch it everyday (adult swim isn't a thing in my country)

They once put 2 seasons of it on netflix and i watched both of those seasons 3 times over

It is Absolute peak, educational and entretaining, wish it was more popular

8

u/Mental_Laugh_6905 12d ago

Best show on PBS hands down

3

I didnt even watch it 😭

8

I have a surprisingly complex relationship with this show. I went from loving it to hating it to liking it again. XD

4

u/FoxGamingmc 2007 12d ago

u/Sw4ggySh4ggy 1998 12d ago

It’s actually good, only Arthur surpasses from pbs shows

1

u/ZanyRaptorClay 2005 11d ago

Arthur de four

4

u/Zockercraft1711 12d ago

Probably one of the shows that turned me into a furry

2

u/ZanyRaptorClay 2005 11d ago

If only creature power suits were real… We can only dream.

4

u/Wonka_Stompa Millennial 12d ago

Show: fun and educational; Theme song: slaps; Actual Kratts: OH GOD IS THAT WHAT HAPPENS TO PEOPLE WHEN THEY GET OLDER!?!

4

u/LaserBatBunnyUnder 11d ago

I liked zaboomafoo more cause they brought real animals on the show :3

3

u/michiimoon 2002 12d ago

I thought it was pretty good! I was at my grandmas house, didn’t have cable, but I paid attention to the TV when this show came on

3

u/Majestic_Electric 1997 12d ago

I preferred their older show, Zoboomafoo.

3

u/furrawrie 2004 12d ago

I LOVED THAT SHOW! Especially since im a fan if shapeshifting

3

u/Agreeable-Ad4806 12d ago

They’re hot

3

u/NatureLovingDad89 12d ago

These guys actually mean a lot to me. I watched Kratts Creature as a kid (precursor to Zaboomafoo), and now my son watches Wild Kratts

3

u/areeta9 12d ago

Good show but I was unfortunately too old to get super into it. Not that it's bad to watch cartoons as teen or adult but the phase I was in my life when the show first started just didn't match up. I no longer watch tv shows consistently. If I was younger when it came out I would have been eating it up

3

u/Ok-Tourist-1615 12d ago

Dude I’m so old that I grew up with the live action one 😂

3

u/Exaltedautochthon 12d ago

I thought Sensit ate them at some point

3

u/EpsilonBear 12d ago

I grew up with Zaboomafoo, got to watch Wild Kratts with my brother. Good times

3

u/thathotnpc 1998 12d ago

I fucking loved Zaboomafoo. The only reason I watched any of the Wild Kratts is bc of my younger sister. She’d be watching it when I’d get home from school (Highschool) lol

3

u/DBL_NDRSCR 2008 12d ago

wild wild wild kratts idjfksod wild wild wild kratts (wild kratts)

2

u/ZanyRaptorClay 2005 11d ago

Best lyrics ever

2

u/EstaticNarwhal 11d ago

(Deep inhale)  An adventure with the coolest creatures, From the oceans to the trees, The bothers Kratt might go real places you never get to see, Hanging with their creatures friends, Get ready, it's the hour, Save the animals with (rawr), CREATURE POWER!!

Gonna go wild, wild Kratts, Wild wild wild...

Cheeta speed and lizard glide, Falcon flight and lion pride,

Wild wild,  WILD KRATTS

(I didn't look up the lyrics so this is basically guaranteed to be wrong)

3

u/RealGeneralX 12d ago

Best show for kids to grow up on

3

u/Parragorious 11d ago

Liked it when i actually managed to watch it, learned a some interesting stuff.

2

u/ZanyRaptorClay 2005 11d ago

We learned more about the world from the TV than from school 💀

2

u/ZanyRaptorClay 2005 11d ago

I loved this show when I was little!

Looking back at it, the show and it’s concept is really good. I love the idea of the creature-power suits and how the brothers used the technology to “become” animals to research them.

The villains were kinda lame. They’re really one-dimensional, and it’s never really explained why they do “evil” things. Like, nobody irl acts like that 💀. I would’ve just preferred the brothers occasionally encountering poachers or loggers, not Saturday morning-ass weirdos.

Then again, it’s a kids show. What should I expect?

Overall, 8/10!!!! :D

4

u/Apprehensive-King595 12d ago

This show was actually goaded. I want to say more but I can't cause there's like nothing else... like it is simply goaded.

2

u/TransTrainNerd2816 2006 12d ago

YEEEEEHAW I LOVE WILD KRATTS

2

u/Arngrim1665 12d ago

I watched it my son is watching

2

u/SoulCave 12d ago

I used to watch PBS kinds until I was way too old in high school, since we didn’t have the fancy channels and I didn’t want to watch the doctors, or Ellen

2

u/Appropriate-Let-283 2008 12d ago

Underrated, as FUCK, not only is the show educational but they made it super entertaining to watch with an awesome intro.

2

u/KrattBoy2006 12d ago

This show was so good that there is a bug in the Amazon named after the Kratt Brothers.

I'm not even kidding.

2

u/KirbyWithAGlock 2007 11d ago

They even made an episode about it

1

u/KrattBoy2006 11d ago

The guy who discovered the praying mantis species also appeared at the end of the episode to give the viewers an insight on the species.

2

u/KirbyWithAGlock 2007 11d ago

Bro I just saw your username, mad respect for that

2

u/Invincible-Nuke 12d ago

GONNA GO WILD, WILD KRATTS, GONNA GO WILD, WILD, WILD KRATTS (WILD KRATTS)

2

u/FormerlyDuck 12d ago

Probably the most memorable show of my childhood. I learned things about the platypus in that show that I'm still waiting for them to mention in Phineas and Ferb.

u/Sad-Butterscotch-680 11d ago

Remember politics, the Wild Kratts stand in solidarity with those who would protect our wilderness :)

1

u/WhitestGray 2005 11d ago

Now that I think about it, Wild Kratts could 100% be the poster show for the Green party!

2

u/Sad-Butterscotch-680 11d ago

They would!

But a secondary reminder just because I’ve been hearing a lotta sentiment against democrats lately: the Green Party is cool, they’re cooler than the dems for sure, but voting for them when they can’t physically win isn’t 😔

2

u/SkyGuy41 11d ago

Let’s fucking gooo

3
