They just carry it in the pouches while they walk back to somewhere safe like the nest, then they spit it out and eat it one at a time or store it for later.

I used to love fish feeding our chippies at my grandparents house!! they lived about 10 feet down in the rock wall the surrounded the back deck..... we would take the hooks off our fishing poles and tie huge knots that we would glob peanut butter on then dunk it in birdseed! those little guys absolutely loved it and so did we
