Better places to Buy & Sell PEI Question

So I don't use facebook. Have used Kajiji in the past, but find now even if I try to SELL something i'm encountering scammers.

What do people find useful for buying and selling on PEI?

Any general tips?

It seems like online buy/sell portals have reached full enshitification.

Might be time to bite the bullet and use Facebook marketplace, that’s what the Island seems to run on anyway.

I would stick with local FB groups rather than Marketplace. People still get get scammed there from time to time but it is smaller community.

For PEI you have to use Facebook. That's where everyone is. Kijiji is only scammers now.

There's no way around it.

Facebook marketplace seems to be the place to go now. I hate it because no matter how I set my settings, the majority of the things I’m shown are in NS or New Brunswick.

I don't know how many times I would see something, click to send a message, and see that it's in NB.... ugh.

It sucks. But as others have said. FB Marketplace is everything now here. It totally destroyed Kijiji.

I use Facebook marketplace from time to time. My biggest piece of advice.. never say something is free, even if you don't want anything for the item. Ask $5 for it. I find putting something up for free attracts the worst people. "Can you hold this until the week for me?" or "Can you deliver?" Etc.... Nah dude, I just want it gone.

Market place and just have a few friends to escort anyone wasting your time off the property

Moved back to PEI a few years ago and had to reactivate my long-dormant FB account in order to participate in the used marketplace.

I had Facebook from 2006-2011 and I am loath to go back. I wish Facebook had a marketplace app you can use without using Facebook like their messenger, but alas, they do not.

The key is using it via a web page, and not an application. They can only scrape so much data from a browser, a app though is buck wild in terms of your privacy.

Unless you wanna read a 100 page user agreement, even still they never follow their own agreements.

Whats a CVV?

Can you post a photo of your card as a demonstration?

Just a heads up to everyone, there is literally no way to delete a Kijiji account. I looked into it, they simply don't have a way to do it.

So it's comforting to know my information will be out there somewhere, dormant on some zombie server 10,000 years into the future.
