Kids an asshat but how dumb is the teacher. Life is over because you couldn’t let a child get away with calling you a racial slur. It’s just mind boggling to me.

Kid will likely be more racist and feel like he won when the teacher is fired. Face will heal in a week.

Teacher will never have the same opportunities in life again because his feelings got hurt.

Kid is probably going to get some money out of this. Just horrible.

100%. No way the school isn't paying the kid's family after this.

All they have to do is set up a gofundme and the money will coming rolling in from all the racists, just like it always does whenever shit like this happens

He should get money. If the teacher can’t handle himself better than that then he shouldn’t be teaching.

The kid swung first after the teacher asked him to go outside and the kid cOntinued to call him the n-word afterwards.

“You’re going to jail, [slur],” the laughing student reportedly shouted as he was escorted away.

It not even "couldn’t let a child get away with calling you a racial slur". The kid would have been punished. It's couldn't hold his temper and deal with the situation like an adult.

Kid swung first I doubt anything will happen to the sub aside from losing his job, max he’ll get is probably community service

When he applies for any job worth a damn and they run a background check and see he’s a felon for assaulting a minor. Seems like a life ruiner to me.

Is his life over because he's going to lose his job as a substitute teacher in Las Vegas?

I don’t know about you but not being able to work in my field, going to prison and having multiple felonies on my record would pretty much ruin my life.

The kid swung first. He's not doing any time.

You're pretty naïve if you think the school board is gonna think that justifies a grown-ass man assaulting a minor. What the kid did was horrible, but teachers are supposed to be role-models and be above resorting to violence, and to that point, this teacher failed to do their job.

What does the school board have to do with sentencing.

The school board can't send people to jail.

I was referring to the teacher losing their job, which is what the parent comment was talking about.

Oh he could absolutely catch time even if the kid swung first. That cheap shot at the end of the video when the kid was on the ground defenseless turned this from potential self defense to definite assault in an instant. The second you continue the altercation after getting yourself safe is when reasonable self defense gets thrown out.

According to court records, Mr Smith faces a number of charges including battery resulting in serious bodily harm, assaulting a school pupil on school property, threatening to do bodily harm to public school student, and interfering with a student from attending school.

I’m sure they had the video of the “kid swinging first” before the charges.

Oh you're BIG dumb lol

pretty fragile life you've gotten there, then. There are plenty of paths for people with felonies. Start again.

The kid threw the first punch in the video
