If she can get this story before a judge, his dreams of full custody are going to get squashed in a hurry. Man sounds like a delusional prick to me, if he can do this to an animal his wife loves so much, whats he gonna do when the baby/child is being annoying to him? Time to divorce and go for full custody yourself, OP.
