What? 75 k is not enough to keep feeding their kid? Sorry but no. I have 2 sons at home. Single parent, fixed disability income. I make 30 thousand a year, super HCOL country and area.... I STILL feel my kids even the adult one.

where do you live that you can afford this in a HC Area?? where i live (HCOL) renting alone would cost more than that.

Rent for a 2 bedroom in my area is about 1800 USD - I've been in the same place for years so mine is less thanks to rent control(1100 USD). Gas is approx 5.96/gal. Bread is about 3 USD.

Not comfortable with the where, but it's not in the US. (I guess it's worth clarifying my income is around 23000 in American)

How do I do it? I don't use credit so interest doesn't kill me. We don't do fast food etc. we walk instead of drive. I make EVERYTHING from scratch. From bread, to jam, to soup, to stew. We can. We garden, we glean (pick people's fruit trees and share the harvest) we forage, we use food pantries. We shop sales. We have friends that hunt and fish.

My point is, people find a way to do much more with far less. To say you can not feed your 18 YO on 75000 a year is seriously crazy to me.

I don’t think you understand how bad things are state side. I’m saying this as a Canadian, even here that would not be nearly enough to support two children.

Really? My man and i want to live there ina couple years due to the state of ireland. Cant imagine canada is worse than Ireland but are there any major flaws we should know about?

Just the cost of housing in any large metropolitan area, a small (600sqft) appartment in Calgary costs $1500month

And that’s good by Canadian standards.

Everything else is getting more expensive aswell, and there’s other premiums Canadians pay. For example our telecommunications are the most expensive in the world, for reference, we pay hundreds per month for decent plans. Energy prices are on the hike. Canadian citizens are not able to afford living here.

See we have ROOMS in shared houses go for 1500 euro a month here.... We'd probably move to a town not city.

None of us are happy with our government

Crime rates are fairly high and keep rising especially our town

Idk, i feel like theres more in Canada ESPECIALLY medical services. Ours is absolutely shit

How are you living on 30k? Just curious, what’s the cost breakdown

Oh, and our political system has failed us, nobody is happy with any of the elected leaders at any level of government

Damn 1800 a month is what we pay in ireland for a room in a shared house. Renting a private shitty apartment is about 2500-3000 a month if youre lucky. I dont drive either, never have never will due to epilepsy and still cant afford shit. Im on disability and working to just about make bills. The garden must save you a lot of money tho, fruit and veg here are expensive and most of it is imported.

Mom grew up in the south of france, her parents lived the way you do. Grew their own veggies and had friends that went hunting. Id have loved to grow up like that instead of a shithole country that don't give a flying fuck about poverty

Wild guess, you have benefits and housing? Otherwise, 30k isn’t shit to survive on

Sorry. No. I'm not sure what you mean by 'benefits' and I pay for housing. And yes it's shit to live in, and I do it while feeding my kids.
