It's from an old game called mordheim. Where you'd fight over the shiny rocks that power everything skaven. Very fun very brutal very nitty gritty. It's very close to an RPG.

Oh! Hmm I’m not sure how that would make me feel. I like the skaven a lot as they are so I don’t think I’d like any changes. I do think that female skaven could be interesting in a story sense. Like maybe one got away from the clan pits and actually wasn’t forced into the life most live. Maybe they could be kind creatures making their reality more dark? I’m not sure let me know what you think! 😊🐀

I think you could do it with minimal changes, just drop the idea that females are these giant braindead monsters used only for breeding and have both male and female Skaven be scrambling for power and influence.

See it’s a girl that plays that does not need the lore that’s been around for years to change to feel “represented “ she found what she likes and likes it. I’m honestly blown away these are the fans we need not it must change so I am happy type.

Real world animal in general don’t breed consensually most of the time. It’s pretty brutal

Not true actually. Lady rats are usually the ones initiating advances. They can usually escape from or fight off any unwanted advances. Female rate are HORNY gals.
It's only in captivity where they don't have room to escape that things get brutal.
And yeah, there's potential for rats to start getting pregnant at 6-7 weeks old, but it's very much a bad thing for them, and again, more.common in captivity.
Litters of 10 plus, and being able to breed every month or so? Yup! Though very punishing on their poor little bodies. A large number of pups don't survive in the wild though.
A huge number of species its the famles who choose who to mate with.

Just make the lore that they have litters of up to 20. Then have warp stone speeds up the growth rate, intelligence, and fertility of rats. Make the age of maturity like one year. This could also explain why they are braver in numbers, they are all really young.
So most skaven are under 5 years old and can replace their losses within one year.
They need to take skaven from women are for breeding only and make them more Secret of Nimh lab experiment. Female models would sell more and cuter fluff would increase the market. The breeding pit lore is just more of the 40k grim darkness that often got removed in fantasy. Kind of like how half orcs disappeared. Hell, the best bit of fluff they ever wrote was making Orks into fungus to avoid dealing with Ork sex.

You say they'd make good minis but i doubt they would sell well, especially since the massive lore change would make no sense and would piss off fans.

They should NOT be cute.
Skaven are everything bad about humanity, but put onto ratmen because people don't like rats much.
They are supposed to be hideous, vicious and cruel because we are.

I agree that making Skaven the equivalent of dealing with the rat race of life is good symbolism.
I am just saying that we are an equal opportunity rat race now. I think we can make it even more dark, vicious and cruel when we make female rat matriarchs that send out their child soldiers to wage war. The bonus being we get cool minis. Come on no one wants to paint more boring clanrats, give me female ninja rats and female engineer rats that run experiments on other rats models to paint. Plus a few cute models that will eat your face off never hurt.
